we missed powell quite a bit for the check downs as well yesterday. if he was playing, its possible we would've had a different outcome

If we're only going to throw to the TE 0.5 times per game and basically use them as extra linemen, why don't we just dump all our TEs and throw an extra RT out there.

Oh yeah, we only have negative one RTs on the team. My bad.

demario davis..... i got to the point that i would watch what he does and solely focus on him. he does not read keys, he gets caught out of position constantly and he does not have hips.

how can you play lb for that long and not read keys? he has this im going to just go where the running back goes every single play mentality. it pisses me off that they even send him out there during the game. let the other guys play, let erin henderson play the snaps. yes i get that guys need rest but this is NOT the guy we need on the field.

it also is infuriating to see david harris out there on 3rd and 7. there is nothing he is going to do to help you on a 3rd and 7 play. nothing. he is worthless as anything other than a good run stopper.

squigley as well. not much to say here. get a better punter. its not rocket science.

special teams coach. somebody fire that fucking guy, he is an abortion. watching jeremy kerley run straight out of bounds yesterday after making a guy miss as he headed there while there were 15 yards of open space in front of him. fuck man!

sorry i got a little off topic....

Is it the special team's coach or is it that they have very poor personnel on special teams?

Lacking a receiving presence at Tight End is a major disadvantage to the offense when playing in adverse weather conditions, as the Jets discovered the hard way in Buffalo yesterday. Up until the Bills game, they played their games in relatively decent conditions. With road games in cold weather cities such as Pittsburgh, Cleveland and KC next season (in addition to Buffalo and New England), this may be an issue which needs to be addressed.

He has a cap hit for the 2016 season of $1,900,000. Do you think he's worth that much? Regardless, imo it's way too much given his level of play and contributions. I used to like him and think he had a lot of potential, but that potential has never developed. He can't block, can't get open consistently, and drops too many passes. He's dead weight, taking up a roster spot.

I think it's both. Another poster posted a month or so ago that April's STs units with other teams were always low-ranked and played poorly. If I'm not mistaken, over the last several seasons, the Jets best STs tacklers have been released and not replaced. There's no PR, poor gunners, a lousy excuse for a punter, not much speed, and evidently those blocking aren't so great, either.

I agree, which is surprising since, I believe, he was a WR in college. Enough is enough

All TE's will be worthless in Chan's system. We're running a spread which means more times than not we're gonna need a TE or "H-Back" to be a blocker. Can't have everyone going our for passes with just 5 o-lineman.. especially when one side of the line is absolutely terrible. And i dont know about you guys but it seemed to me that Bowles never has been high on Amaro. Seems like he actually disliked him after the little stint with Jace and Rex. Coaches don't wanna hear players throwing coaches under the bus. It's a very bad look. Im not saying Bowles actually doesn't like him but TO ME it seems like he isn't feeling him. Same with Milliner.

    edit: and Kerley

I understand this and agree. We'll see his ability to objectively evaluate the players on his own team, and what he does to fix the holes, upgrade the overall talent level, improve depth, and add speed to all 3 units.

Just keep in mind, that if we re-sign Mo, there's not going to be a lot of money for FAs, we only have 6 draft picks, and that probably means that Snacks will have to go and probably Richardson the year after. So don't expect miracles and then kill him if he hasn't replaced the 12-15 players that most of us think need replacing.

If we don't re-sign Mo, then our DL play and that of the D in general will probably take a hit.

Also, in order to get some cap space, he may have to release Brick if he won't take a pay cut/renegotiate his contract. I'm pretty much against renegotiating as that almost always means giving the player more money AND kicking the cap hit down the road. For an older player whose play is steadily declining, that's not wise, imo. The problem will be replacing him. We probably also need to upgrade Ijalana. Thank God we've never had to find out how bad he is. Now in fairness to Ijalana, maybe like Brick he is more of a pass blocker than run blocker, and maybe he wasn't even given the opportunity to unseat Giacomini, but I'd think that as poorly as Giacomini has played Ijalana should have gotten some consideration for replacing him if Ijalana is any good at all.

I think we all need to understand that our roster didn't get in this crummy shape overnight, and it's not going to get fixed overnight. It's probably going to take 2-3 more off seasons to get our roster fixed. We can thank Mr. Trade Up himself, Tanny for that. Between Idzik and he, it's really amazing that we had as good a team as we did this year. If Idzik had still been the GM, even if he had hired Bowles, does anyone seriously think we'd have Marshall or half the good players we do have? We probably would have been a contender for the #1 pick in the draft.

Maybe, maybe not. Gailey's not stupid, however, and is known for adjusting his offense to fit the talent on the team. If Mac presented him with a Gronk clone, I have to believe that Gailey wouldn't let that player languish on the bench. He'd find a way to make a weapon out of him. I think at least part of the reason why Gailey developed his offense the way he did is because he never had a topflight TE with which to work. Having a true, two-way TE could do wonders for this offense. It would give the opposing Ds something else to consider. He'd still be there to help block for the rushing attack or to protect the QB better than Cumberland could ever dream about, but also be available as a safety valve for Fitz (or whomever the starting QB is), and could go on occasional deep routes to keep opposing Ds honest.

I have no clue what Bowles thinks about Amaro's comments towards Rex, but setting that aside, even if he doesn't like Amaro for other reasons, can you blame him? He's a second round pick that Bowles inherited, and unless Amaro lit it up and impressed him during practices, what did he contribute to the team this season? What's Amaro done since he came into the NFL? He had a decent rookie season, but in spite of his size is soft and not a very good blocker. Someone with his size should be an excellent blocker. He also drops too many passes. Then he goes out for the season with a bruised vagina. I don't like Amaro, never have, probably never will, unless he manages to stay healthy next season, learns how to block, and becomes a real threat in the passing attack.

So many candidates not named McDougle, not even sure how he can possibly come to mind when you have these idiots and Ridley (for the emotional folks)

    Cumberland
    Quigley
    Milliner
    Ridley
    Coples

Why? Because that's the only intelligent thing to do. He's young, cheap, pretty fast and has a ton of talent. Often times it takes WRs a year or two to develop, and his development was definitely set back by injuries this season. You don't give up on 2nd round picks this quickly. Only morons do things like that. I despise Amaro and think he was a wasted pick, but I'm not ready to get rid of him yet. He's young and could still develop. He has talent/potential. They both deserve another season to show whether or not they belong.

I don't understand the hate that Ridley is getting in this thread. For crying out loud, he was coming off a serious injury and has only practiced and played the last few weeks. He had been a very good player for the Pats. It was a good attempt by Mac to get a very good depth/rotational RB on the cheap. If Ridley had rounded back into form, he could have saved the Jets yesterday, and all you who are hating on him would have been talking about what a brilliant move it was by Mac to sign him and what a great player he is.

I don't know if Belichick was able to get more out of him than Gailey and Bowles, if Ridley's not 100% yet (or will ever be following his injury), or if just needs more reps to get comfortable, but he needs to be cut some slack. I believe that he's a FA and probably won't be back. It was worth it for a one-year "show me" deal. Also, if memory serves me correctly, many posters were raving about the RB depth prior to the start of the season with Ridley and Stacy. Things don't always work out.

What's not to get?? Question was who was the most worthless player? A player averaging .8 yards per carry aside from the last 2 games is going to be on the worthless list every single time. What he did in New England and what injury he had coming into the year may have been the reason he was worthless but nonetheless he was worthless...

Probably because he averaged 2.5 yards per carry. Anybody could've done just as well.

Nice post bro, I agree Chan would be able to utilize a TE if he had one, I think he'd be that "H-Back" role a lot. And as far as Jace.. I really like the guy.. i Think he has the tools.. if he can become just a slightly below average blocker even be good.. but he just flat out horrible at blocking.. His hands in texas were reliable.. i don't think he'll ever have the drop pass problems again.. rookie jitters.
