If that was his only bad play during the whole game he is the least of our problems when the guy making twice as much got abused all day long.
ST do suck. But considering the woes of the OL who opened no holes and failed to protect Fitz, that needs to be redone big time. If Powell and Ivory want to be back we gotta get them at minimum. I like the pair but are useless if they are always injured. Get some fresh talent at those positions The linebacking sucked for the most part everygame. Pretty obvious how they let TT run wild Sunday. Could not help Mevi$ in double coverage No edge rusher. At round 20 we solve someof these problems
To prevent the bigplays. Why Bowles wouldn't let Gilchrist cover deep and let Revis play tight man coverage I'll never understand. What's the point of having Revis if you're gonna play him off all the time? Darrin Walls could do that and be just as effective. Just plain stupid.
He also refused to tackle, as always. Every run along the sideline you saw Cro step out out of bounds to avoid any physical contact. I honestly have never seen a softer player. Dude looks like he's hunting and killing tigers with his bear hands, but he's got the same attitude of a 70 year old woman. I'm glad this hopefully was the last time we saw him play for this team.
The defense was good enough to keep the team in games but not good enough to win games without help. This is typically fine if the defense can generate turnovers or win turnover battles regularly. The Jets started the season with dramatic turnover numbers and then went silent for weeks which correlated to the losing streak. It then became clear to me this team could not win games if they did not generate turnovers. Going forward, they need to find some players that have a knack for generating turnovers.
The glaring player that sucked to me was Calvin Pace...At least 3 times he was in perfect position to contain Taylor and/or the HB option/reverse and he blew it everytime...cut his old worthless ass
If only we had a corner with great ball skills who makes plays whenever he's on the field. Like that Marcus Williams guy, he played really well for the... oh wait, he's a Jet. Stuck on the bench behind Cro's old washed up ineffective ass. Same goes for Mauldin and Pace.
The bills had no one but Watkins, why not put Revis on bump and run and cromartie over the top? Any of our bums could cover the other wide receivers.
To sum the worst coaching job this season. Plus poor execution Plus no Powell I thought without Devin S inthere we would be ok. Boy was I wrong
Some losses are easier to pin on a couple of players, or maybe mostly on the CS. This loss was a total team effort. I think the lack of execution on O contributed to the problems with the D. But in one respect I think the coaching was really a problem, and that was how they chose to cover Watkins. In the previous Bills game, as the announcers pointed out, the Jets held Watkins to a measly 3 catches. They played Revis up on him, bumping him with contain. Now to be sure the zebras threw that early flag on Revis, so maybe they factored in as well. But that flag didn't mean that Revis had to play so far off. No doubt as others have noted the CS chose to have Revis keep Watkins in front of him and not allow Watkins to beat them deep. But that was not the only option. They should have played Revis up on Watkins with one safety, perhaps Gilchrist, shadowing him deep, everybody else in zone coverage. Can someone here tell me why the Jets did not do that? Of course another problem for the D was that the DL gets no pass rush, and the front seven let Taylor run free too often. And in turn that is a function of the linebackers. Count me as not only sick of Davis, but one of the Jet fans who thinks too many overrate Harris. Harris quite simply is a liability in pass coverage. But yes, it does seem in crucial games, in crucial situations, the Jets D does not play up to their image as a top D. Yesterday was one of those games.
Agree fully BB. In fact the offense came through on several occasions to win games. Remember when the view was if the offense could put up a few TD's the Jets defense should win most games? Good times...
There's more I'll post in other threads but for this thread: A few of you are starting to hit on the truth (as painful as it may be)" Rex Ryan out coached Todd Bowles (again). And it wasn't even close. It was painful to watch, especially for a Jets fan (freezing in the stands) who followed Rex for 6 yrs and knows exactly what he tries to do. Seeing our defensive alignments and pre-snap adjustments I just wanted to run down onto the field and strangle Bowles. Are you Fing kidding me? Again? You didn't see this coming?????????????? Remember this is the same defense that shut down Tom Brady (1-10 3rd down conversions) just a week earlier. We have a GOOD defense. But if anyone can attack and beat our defense with a seriously depleted roster, it's the man who created it. Ryan turned this game into a 'game within a game'. He knew if he won 'the battle', he'd win the war. And you all know what 'the battle' was. You can hate on Rex the Buffoon all you want. But on this day, you have to respect the man. He was never going to lose to the defense he created.
