With too many is you way ahead of yourselves (aka Joe Beningo) when they have any kind of success and then when they lose, it's the same old Jets BS and the world is end over reactions. I'm crushed, I still don't know why they were never able to make that one big play vs. this mediocre Buffalo team in either game. Fact is, the Jets were never that great this season. Just two weeks ago, they played the same crappy game vs. Dallas that they play today, just got the bounces unlike today. Buffalo didn't play some great game today and Rex wasn't all overly into it either. They just lost to a division rival on the road in the wind. Poster after poster all "I love this team," yesterday now acting like Fitzpatrick is terrible. Fitzpatrick had a great season and I don't want to read the "31 td's in today's NFL, BS. He had a great season. Over 3,900 yards and 60 percent completion percentage and 31/15 TD to interception and all those gutty runs, don't diminish his year cause he wasn't great today. And the fact is, he had 3 picks but the first one was the game changer, first time he was pick in the red zone all season. That's the game changer that I have no answer for. The next two were his getting crushed while releasing the ball and the last one is basically a Hail Mary based on 20 seconds left in their own zone. Just look at the numbers and who wouldn't take this before the season: Brandon Marshall - 109 catches, 1,502 yards, league receiving leading 14 td's Eric Decker - 80 catches, over 1,000 yards, 12 td's. Chris Ivory - first 1,000 yard season, AFC Rushing Champ Fitzpatrick - 31 Td's, over 3,900 Yards, 60 percent passing. 10-6 Record Don't act like that's nothing. That's plenty. They didn't play a tough schedule and weren't making the SB, it was never happening so let's not act like this was the biggest loss of all-time either. It is what it is.
Pretty good post.... it's disappointing but overall I'd have signed up for 10-6 and essentially playing a playoff in week 17 after the dumpster fire Rex and Idzik left the Jets in last year.
Your entire post is just proof that this team could've and would've made a run in the playoffs. If we won today and Mo had not gotten hurt , I would feel extremely confident going into Cincy. So you cant just make the statement of we werent going to make the Super Bowl.
This team reminds me of the 2006 team. Over achieving. If we advanced to the playoffs we might have beat Cinci but that would have been it. What if we lost in the wild card by 20 or so? Would have been almost the same result. I would have liked the opportunity but at the end of the day, they fought until the last minute. Way to stay positive.
Obviously there's going to be a lot of overreaction and I'll admit I've done so myself. But I agree, I had this team pegged to go 8-8 or 9-7 at best. I didn't think they'd even be in the hunt for the playoffs but they were in a "win and you're in" situation. There are definitely some changes that need to be made but I feel like the Jets have a good foundation to work on and move forward (not a solid foundation but just a good one). With a catching TE, a good replacement for Ivory and some above average linebackers, I think this team will be one of those every year playoff contenders. Also regarding Fitz, he had an awful game, but this season I didn't get nervous every time he dropped back like I did with Sanchez or Geno. I'd keep him going forward while Petty gets more seasoning for at least another year.
I would have been fine with making the playoffs and losing by thirty. But losing the way they did to who they did made this season a failure. Or at the very least the most annoying tease ever. Heck I would have been fine with losing to the Pats and winning this week if that's how we missed the playoffs. But beating the Pats and Giants in all these great games and gutting one out in Dallas only to set us up for this epic fail is like Lucy pulling the football from Charlie Brown.
You would had sign up for a 10-6 season and no playoffs? I think most people would rather be have a bad record and get a better draft pick.
The Same Old Jets lose these games,We lost to Miami in a win and get in game in 2011 ,Now to Buffalo .Its simple if the Jets don't want that attached to them then win the games that matter
I just hope Mac and Bowles feel the pressure.....if they miss the playoffs again next year it could be a short stay here for them.Woody can't be happy right now
You just don't get it. Seven teams in the league won more games than the Jets did. SEVEN. That means we suck. 8th best record in football under a rookie head coach is a complete disaster. What a bunch of underachieving losers. We're building nothing here. We better blow this whole thing up and start over.
Considering we have a rookie head coach, a guy who was supposed to be a backup QB leading us the entire way, injuries to Mangold and Revis, a "malcontent" WR yes if you had asked me if I would have taken 10-6 I would have. I don't root for draft picks, they are a gamble whereas if a few thing had broken our way i.e.; the Brown and Ravens being horrific and Dalton getting injured and maybe we make the playoffs.
I agree but what if we made the playoffs and you never this AFC is not good this year. I just hate how our season ended today. But overall season was a success in improvement. I also never thought Fitz was terrible...those would be the Geno lovers on the board. Most felt was he adequate and helping us lead and win games
