He's not a team player or a leader. Never was and never will be. It's all about his contract, that's all.
to be fair, he's got a lot of guaranteed money so it's in his best interest to get to the golf course as quickly as possible
They obviously are not paying Revis $14M per year for his public relations skills. No doubt in a hurry to go and enjoy some of that coin.
But it is his job as a leader to be a stand up guy and talk about the game and the season. I do not like him. Never have. Give me Marshall any day. The epitome of class.
I'll tell you If I'm Our GM he's either going to take a pay cut or get released..... He's worth about half of what he makes.... And he was the main reason we lost today..... He couldn't cover shit
Yeah, he was playing off Watkins all game and that's the one of the reasons the Jets couldn't get Buffalo off the field on 3rd and 4th down. You have to think that today was an eye-opener for Bowles and Rodgers and probably Revis also. They're going to look at that film at some point and I think the obvious question is whether it wouldn't be better to put Revis on his island against the #2 when the Jets come up against some of the young studs in the league right now. I don't think Revis can cover Watkins and Hopkins one on one at this point in his career. There's no shame in admitting that and using him in the best manner possible to defeat the opposing passing game. Let the #2 CB and a nickle or safety handle that lifting and put Revis in a position to dominate someone again.
His salary next year is fully guaranteed. 2017 is when that conversation might happen, or not depending on the state of the franchise.
A leader and stand up guy who has been around in the leagues for a while, I agree you would think he would stand up and talk to the team, the game, etc... Saw Marshall's post conference, and was quite impressive.
Revis looked lazy and washed up today.. idk if it's the jets fan in me but i haven't seen what other people seen all year. People acting as if he was constantly being destroyed and like his 9 take aways didn't matter. What i saw today wasn't what i've seen from revis all year. He looked lost..and lazy. Besides that i think he's been great. Can't vouch for what i saw today though.. it was bad.
Darrelle Revis signed a 5 year, $70,121,060 contract with the New York Jets, including $39,000,000 guaranteed, and an average annual salary of $14,024,212. In 2015, Revis will earn a base salary of $16,000,000. Revis has a cap hit of $16,000,000 while his dead money value is $39,000,000. Contract: 5 yr(s) / $70,121,060 Signing Bonus - Average Salary $14,024,212 Guaranteed $39,000,000 Free Agent: 2020 / UFA
Only partly, like $6M I think. He got $39 million guaranteed that included $16M this year and $17M next year and $6M in 2017. He has a dead money hit of $8M to cut in 2017, which would give the Jets some real cap relief. I doubt they do anything that year though. Revis would have to really decline next year to make it an easy cut in 2017. I'm guessing he will be out to prove he's still a great CB next year. We'll be able to tell just by looking at him is my guess. If he shows up in great condition then he's looking to get back on the island. If he's gained a few pounds in the off-season? Well then we've probably got an issue down the road.
$39M guaranteed in the first 3 years, $16M, $17M, $6M ($7M not guaranteed in '17.) The last two years are at what looked like a discount rate that would cause a holdout but it's possible they're at an inflated rate that will cause a cut instead, about $11M a year for '18 and '19.
