Our LB and Oline are in dire need of a make over. I think if we get those, well be fine next season. Possibly a speed back. We're a good team, if coaching gets better, we can get by with Fitz at rhe helm. Hopefully Petty makes progress this offseason and we can look to him the follow years. A few things we need to fix starting tomorrow. Firing Bobby April and completely overhauling the special teams. Later we need to look into fixing the O-line and linebackers. They need to take the kid gloves off of Mauldin actually. We need to know if he's a full time OLB for us or just a situational guy. Gailey and the offense are predicated on a team that has a strong runner (Ivory, hurt today) a scatback (Powell, out) and a QB who is smart enough to make the read. When you're missing the critical run component, it falls back on the QB, and Fitz is what he is a gunslinger who trusts his arm too much. Especially in cold windy weather. Not sure what the answer there is besides keeping the RBs healthy (obviously easier said than done) or getting the right backup RB (maybe Ridley isn't right?) Agree that the refusal to double Watkins is a head scratcher.

The Jets have the kind of roster you get when you have to spend $90M in cap space in one year and the last 3 high QB picks have all blown out out of the building by season 3. They have the kind of roster than you get when you've been trading picks and trading up as the main pattern for a decade. It'll get better. The problem is not structural at this point as it was in year's past. The new guys just need a bit of time to catch up and restock the roster again. The special teams have blown chunks since 2011. Mike Westhoff didn't get fired because the special teams sucked, he fired the Jets because the talent he was given for special teams sucked.

Bowles shit the bed game planning for Watkins, Beckham Jr, Watt/Hopkins among others. He didn't adjust his game plan whatsoever and just kept letting the same players beat him time and time again. Hes a rookie head coach that must change his ways or he will be gone in 1-2 years tops.
I'm greatly disappointed in you, Cman. The team did not choke. One of your last sentences sums it up...they were NOT a true contender. There are still too many holes and talent shortcomings. They are still a work in progress. They greatly overachieved this season and gave us an exciting season. We will not be true contenders until we get a real franchise QB. That's why Petty and Geno (or whomever the 3rd QB is next TC) must be allowed to compete for the starting job. The starting QB position should not be handed to Fitz.
