I'm not sure what needs to stop. The fairy tales, the condescending bullshit or the inability to accept reality.

"As recent national polls have confirmed, this generation of young people is pro-life. The challenge comes in breaking through the apathy and motivating and training students to take a stand for Life on their campuses.

We are the only national pro-life organization dedicated to training and equipping college, high school, medical, and law school students. Our approach is uniquely effective, and the methods we have developed are a combination of time-tested techniques and cutting-edge technology.

Med Students for Life (MedSFL), launched during the 2010-2011 school year, is the only national network of future medical professionals committed to improving quality health care by defending conscience rights and every human life."

"The Language of God: A Scientist Presents Evidence for Belief is a bestselling book by Francis Collins in which he advocates theistic evolution. Francis Collins is an American physician-geneticist, noted for his landmark discoveries of disease genes, and his leadership of the Human Genome Project (HGP). He currently serves as the Director of the US National Institutes of Health. In the book, Collins describes briefly the process by which he became a Christian.[1][2]

Collins raises arguments for the idea of God from biology, astrophysics, psychology and other disciplines. He cites many famous thinkers, most prevalently C. S. Lewis, as well as Saint Augustine, Stephen Hawking, Charles Darwin, Theodosius Dobzhansky and others."

The Hidden Face Of God: How Science Reveals The Ultimate Truth
a book by Gerald Schroeder, Ph.D.

In a timely fusion of science and faith, the scientist and popular writer Gerald L. Schroeder explains why cutting-edge scientific theories point to a great plan underlying the universe.

The Hidden Face of God takes a bold step forward to show that science, properly understood, provides positive reasons for faith. From the wisdom encoded in DNA and analyzed by information science, to the wisdom unveiled in the complexity of cellular life, to the wisdom inherent in human consciousness, The Hidden Face of God offers a tour of the best of modern science. This fascinating volume will open a world of science to religious believers, and it will cause skeptics to rethink some of their deepest beliefs.

According to your logic, scientists "can't think for themselves" either; they are constantly citing the work of other scientists. College professors have to use books to teach their students; so I guess you would say that college professors, too, "can't think for themselves"?

None of these are my ideas, I am being humble by citing the work of others, experts in their fields, as well as knowledge developed by countless educated and accomplished individuals over the past 2000 years or so. That's what people commonly refer to as truth. My screen name is not meant to suggest that I somehow invented the truth all by myself, lol...just that I endeavor to the best of my ability to pass on the truths that humanity has compiled over the centuries, but some people today, seduced by the modern myth of relativistic individualism are trying to deny. To their own detriment, I might add.

Have any of these great thinkers ever figured out why priests bugger altar boys?

Or why the Catholic Church shuns gays but embraces paedophile priests, hiding them, protecting them, shuttling them back and forth between parishes, excusing them, paying off victims as if that heals them.

A bunch of hypocritical mouth pieces doling out virtuous talking points all the while destroying the very lives they should be protecting.

Wow! I think I know that guy, and I'm strictly a "weddings and funerals" Catholic these days. I'm pretty sure he's a "second career" priest who actually had a "real life" first - maybe as a CPA. He also gets out for a beer every now and then.

If you read the Catechism of the Catholic Church with an open mind, from cover to cover, you will be amazed at how complete, consistent, and irresistible it is! You will know that what you have just read is the objective truth of our shared reality as human beings.

From all of my life experiences, I can honestly say that I know that God exists, and that the Catholic Church contains the fullness of truth. I have so much convincing evidence at my disposal (which is probably why the Catholic Church, to this day, is the most popular organization of any kind in the world, with about 2 billion members worldwide). I'm trying, the best I can, to share that in this thread. I can't prove the existence of God to anyone who refuses to be open to all of this evidence, but the evidence is there nonetheless, from over 2000 years of our history as human beings. Ultimately, though, one has to let go, open up their mind, honestly consider this evidence, give it a fair chance, study it all, and slowly but surely it will become apparent to them. As it did for me (I used to be skeptical myself!). And it's not "brainwashing", it's just thinking critically, with an open mind, and learning things you might not have known, or considered, before. It's the process of discovering the truth for yourself, just as scientists, or academics in any field, study their field and learn more about it over time.

If you know any atheists in your life, you may have heard them say "we make our own meaning in life". In other words, despite the fact that we all live in the same world, in the same universe, we somehow can all come to different conclusions about this same universe that are all, somehow, equally vaild (the fallacy of "relativism" in our society today). But even if you believe that, once you study the Catechism of the Catholic Church with an open mind, you will be so attracted to it and so convinced that it is in fact the objective truth of our shared reality, that even if you still think we can make our own meaning in life, that is the meaning you will choose for yourself! You will say to yourself, "even if it's not true, this is the reality that I choose for myself, this is the world that I want to live in!". And it will enhance every aspect of your life; you will be filled with a deep, profound sense of love and peace that you never knew before!

The above is my commentary. Here's a link to the online version of the Catechism, if you want to begin (or continue) to explore it. It's big, as it represents the work of countless individuals spanning over 2000 years.

NOW the Church decides it has no tolerance for sexual abuse of minors.

Why did it take thousands of years?

    http://www.newindianexpress.com/nat...ce-To-Sex-Abuse/2016/01/03/article3209120.ece

Church Now Has Zero Tolerance To Sex Abuse

NEW DELHI: The Catholic Church in India is aiming for a cleaner image this new year as the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of India (CBCI) has decided to deal with priests accused of sexual abuse through severe punishments, including defrocking them.

In the past, many sexual abuse allegations have been made against Catholic priests. The Catholic Church has taken this decision following Pope Francis’ exhortation against erring priests. As per the new procedures, Archdioceses (districts under archbishops) have been asked to take a sympathetic stand towards the victims who allege sexual abuse by priests instead of adopting a holier-than-thou attitude, which it had been taking so far. Also, the archdioceses will be duty bound to carry out investigations against such priests, and will have to send probe reports to the Vatican.

“There will be no place for any abuser in the Catholic fold. Vatican will decide on the case considering the reports and may even suggest defrocking of the priests, if found guilty,” said a source.

Defrocking (removal of their rights to exercise the functions of the ordained ministry) is the ultimate punishment a priest can receive in the Catholic establishment.

“Pope Francis has set a new beginning and we are happy that the Indian church is following his ideas. The fact that Catholic Church is even considering defrocking in itself shows the seriousness attached to the idea,” Francis Joe Saldana, a Church activist, said. The Catholic establishment is also mulling over taking steps such as seizing passports of accused priests to stop them from fleeing the country. It is also working out a plan to hire corrections staff to monitor guilty priests. The Catholic Church has also decided to be more compassionate to the abuse victims, who are mostly children. It has decided that only licensed therapists would be appointed to counsel abuse victims. The current practice is to ask nuns or priests to counsel the victims.

“We also have a plan to set up whistleblower funds to reward church staff who report abuse,’’ said a church insider. The source said the Indian Church already has case on its hands. It is that of Father Lawrence Johnson, a Pune-based priest accused of abusing a 10-year-old boy at Christ the Kind parish. Father Johnson was arrested following complaints by the victim’s family. At present, he is in judicial custody.

According to church activists, the way the Church is handling the case is quite praiseworthy.
