I don't disagree, but you have Fitz looking Tompkins way now. On top of that a few of the comments like how Tompkins talked to him about beating his guy and Fitz took it to heart. The result of which was a 50 yd play last week. Just from a chemistry standpoint Kerley is the odd man out, money wise as well.
Enunwa is suposed to block, set up picks 60% of the time..evrything else is just gravy. We have plenty of talented receivers We all know how DSmith was snake bitten this year starting with Geno messing up that throw in TC= ribs damaged as I recall. Then he screwed up the Buffalo game fumbling. Afterwards,redeemed himself with a TD catch that game or another. Now another injury. Is he made of glass or stone? Teradactil hands? Lets see him become what he did at OSU, a vertical threat downfield. Mac brought him here prob for that anyway. Your GM cant enlist 100 per cent draft winners tho Mac is coming close.
Not sure if anyone has mentioned this yet, but he reminds me of Jerome Barkum, a jets WR drafted in the 70s who eventually was moved to tight end. Barkum made game wining catch in win over Miami in 1981.
Good call. He's big like Barkum was. Watching him play yesterday made me think he should play tight end. Barkum played as a TE sometimes....I believe.
Yeah, I was thinking of Smith too after the game yesterday. When you watch the offense now, and see how Thompkins and Enunwa are starting to fit in and contribute, it's a shame about Smith. I say he was on the verge of doing what we're starting to see from Thompkins and Enunwa. And he has a much higher ceiling as a pass catcher, and was close to breaking out, imo. I believe he can do better than both of those guys. Tough first year for the kid Tho Enunwa has that beastiness to him and blocks, there's gonna be balls clunking off of his hands, that will never change
What position is Enunwa officially? TE? I always see him in the backfield as a blocker or lined up near the line.. not even far enough outside to consider a slot IMO.. whatever he is he's good at it.. straight beast. I never knew he had the burners like that lol.. and he's tough as nails.
Thought he was going to the house on the OT grab, didn't realize he had that much speed to him. I'm a fan. The same goes for Thompkins.
Enunwa is a very physical receiver that will always break tackles. Once he becomes more sure-handed, this guy is going to have one hell of a role with the Jets. I remember how talented this guy was at the draft, but he couldn't run routes. Now he's starting to run much crisper routes, hopefully improves on catching the football.
this is a bigger story than attention is getting. Enunwa has made steady progress over the season and has made some HUGE plays for this team. I am really excited about him going forward. I think we've got a gem in this kid. Devin Smith SHOULD take some steps forward next year after adjusting to the NFL game. And if he does our WR core is set for years. I expect focus of this offseason to be youth for the future on the OLine (C & LT), youth for future at LB, and a Cro replacement.
It's pretty awesome that we can go into next off season and not worry at all about receiver. Marshall and Decker are the best tandem in the NFL. Enunwa, Thompkins, and Owusu are great solid youth. Focus on other areas. These receivers are grooming to be something very special.
I think you still look to grab a WR in the draft. Marshall isnt a spring chicken. But with Marshall, Decker, Enunwa, Thompkins, plus guys like Amaro and Smith coming back next year you have good options.
We're pretty stacked at WR right now with two decent prospects on IR as well. We've got other areas of far greater need than WR for next season.

Unless Smith shows more than he has so far when he comes back, and I'm not just talking durability, he's gonna have a really hard time making the roster. I fully expect Mac not to wait on him and more likely than not, fill his spot with another WR pick.
