Nice read. Bowles is the real deal.
I would definitely like to add our GM to the list of best acquisitions for the Jets. He is quickly transforming this team personnel wise.

Mac has certainly been nice but a GM doesn't succeed or fail on his first off-season. I still am not sure about Mac's drafting ability at a consistent level, I don't know if he can retain talent at a reasonable cost (Mo Wilk or Snacks, etc.), I'm not sure if he can cut his own guys after they fail to perform (Cromartie possibly) nor am I sure about his ability to manage the cap over time.

Bowles has proven to me that he should be our coach for at least the next few years. I'll give Mac the same amount of time to prove to me that he can be the GM to turn this franchise into (hopefully) the next AFC East dynasty.

I want to definitely see this thing through with Mac and Bowles. It's going to be a great finish in Jetland this year, but I can't wait to see these 2 grow and continue to mold the football team.

It's like some mad genius took 1 part Mangini, one part Parcells, and one part Belichick and made what I consider the right coach for the Jets, finally.
Still makes an occasional eyebrow-raising decision, but I've been really impressed by him.

His in game management has gotten better at an outstanding pace. In close games at the beginning of the year he was making stupid challenges and eating timeouts for no reason. He's gotten so much better in a short period of time.

Let's pull a Bowles and not get too high or low here.

These feel good articles were coming out right about now in 2009 and 10.

I'd add Rex to that list too, he actually blitzes more than Rex and there's always crazy formations going on out there. The fact that Bowles was a super bowl winner as a player and a long time assistant he for sure has the respect of the players. I think he and Mac will be here for quite a long time. This is different than Rex, Mangini and Herm from top to bottom it feels like everyone knows wtf they're doing.

I think we should apply that to coaches too. Herm, Mangini and Rex all looked like the answer after year one as well.

Mac, at least saw a serious issue on the defensive side of the ball and addressed it (Rivis, Cro, Skrine and Gilchrist ). I think he had vision enough to see MO or Sheldon may not be here next season, and picked Williams.
Marshall was a steal for a 5th and Fitz, not to overstate, but Fitz has been priceless. Tompkins looks very promising.

Not bad for year 1. Like you say, the next couple of years will be just as important.

My immidiate respect for Mac comes from his strategy on the off season, be it Fitz, or Marshall, or Revis or Buster and the rest . His contracts did not mortgaged our future, and left plenty of elbow room as we move forward into 2016. Not to mention that both Marshall and Fitz turned out to be the steal of the decade.
Please see our prior regimes in that area alone. Tanny mortgaged the future while over reaching on mediocre talent, Idzik literally decimated the present to make an immidiate impact to the cap.
It doesn't take too long to see that.

Last 3 coaches we've had all made the playoffs in their first season as coach.

So at times we've all thought each of those guys was going to be our coach for the next 10 years.

Bowles is alright. I know some love him. I think he's been much better lately. Chan has really been the difference in the last 5 games for me though. The emergence of guys like Powell, Thompkins, Onunwa while still feeding the rock to Marshall and Decker in crunch time has been the difference.

I think if this was the case from Week 1 we'd probably have about 12 wins right now.

Im a fan of MacCagnan though. And since Bowles was hand picked by him then thats what I trust.

on Bowles- You have to understand what he's building culture wise. The same way Belichick has the Patriots operating year in and year out and also teams like the Steelers, Ravens, Packers and such he's building a football program. One where players are being developed and put in the best position to succeed. If you notice none of our guys are ever playing out of their comfort zone. Pryor isn't playing centerfield, Ivory isn't being asked to do much pass protection, etc. And we've had rough patches, its expected over a long season but this team has been a blessing to me personally. Even though losses to Philly, Oakland and Houston hurt we rallied and are now a win away from making noise in January and we all know how awesome it is when the playoffs feature the Jets. Bowles didn't say anything about the playoffs in February, Rex did and look at where both teams are today.

+100 All the great ones instilled a philosophy. This guy is turning out to be great. Mac will just keep getting better.

To think that both are Jersey guys no less.

Wow the Coach comes right next door, Elizabeth

No reservations or comparisons for me

    Weird.

Nothing about him losing the locker room.
