Poor leadership didn't drive anything other than his preference to abandon his post. He made a choice. A cowardly choice. You don't get that luxury to just walk away from your duty because you don't like your leadership and doing so doesn't make you a hero.
Throw in the lives lost looking for the guy, he's lucky he isn't being charged for some other crimes on top of the court martial. I still will never understand giving up the 5 terrorists we did to get this 1 guy back.
