We have really struggled to run the ball in short yardage situations. Every time we have a yard to go I say please don't run Ivory up the middle but chan can't hear me I guess. We don't have the oline like we had back in the day where it was near automatic to run behind woody and moore to pick up the one yard. A lot of us hated the idea of Sheldon playing fullback in short yardage situations but I wasn't one of them. I think we should go back to this idea and give Sheldon the ball on 3rd/ 4th and 1's. Or play action pass. We need to stop the Ivory up the middle every damn time.
Personally I loved Sheldon on 4th and goal. But I wondered how the offensive players felt, losing a TD stat to a D-Lineman every time.
Patsies 5 wide QB sneak on quick count works everytime or a play action short pass, the short yardage runs aren't working
Spider 2 Y Banana fuck it. The offensive line hasn't been getting the push on those short yardage situations. Ivory's been stuffed on a number of times n 4th and 1. Throw it to Decker on the flat.
lmao u actually know that play? seems like Gruden says that EVERY play is that on monday night football lol
hahaha, yeah it's actually a good play dude. It's good on short yardage situations. Spider 2 = type of protection the offensive line does; in this case the offensive line slides. Spider means slide. Y Banana = route combination in the play. I know the primary read is the fullback on the flat. The "Y Banana" is the route being ran I think by the TE which is a corner route that's more rounded off. It also requires the slot receiver and #1 to run routes. I think the #1 runs a fade route. It's a simple, high % play that really does work. Basic west coast offense play. It's also in Madden, but they don't call it Spider2 y Banana
At this point, Powell up the middle on a 3rd and short is better than Ivory. Or a screen pass to Powell.
Screw stats, let's get that yard and pick up the first down or td. Right now the only stat were getting out of Ivory up the middle is negative yardage
Why teams don't just go four wide and spread out the defense and then QB sneak is beyond me. It works every damn time.
It used to work when we had 5 really good offensive lineman back in 2009 [San Diego run on 4th and 1], but not with this line. Gotta keep them honest though.
