I was thinking about our draft place if we'd miss the playoff. AFC: Chiefs, Steelers and Broncos going to PO, Colts (6-8), Jaguars (5-9) can't pass us with 2 remaining matches and Texans (7-7) will be div winner or with one loss would stay behind us. NFC: 2 remaining PO spots: one will be a div winner from Redskins (7-7), Falcons (6-8) and Gians (6-8) trio. Last 2 can't pass us, Skins will be a div winner or with one loss would stay behind us. Fighting teams for other spot are Vikings (9-5) and Falcons (7-7). Vikings vs Giants and Packers (with one win is in the PO) Falcons vs Panthers, Saints (with one loss is out of PO) Let's say Falcons will win their 2 matches and we lose our two's and finishing with 9-7. What would the situaton be in this case, which team has better SOS? To summarize, we would select in 19th or 20th place on the draft, if would miss the PO. Are my calculation correct?
I really doubt the Falcons are going to beat the Panthers this week. If the Jets don't make the playoffs they will have the 20th pick, which looks very likely, doubtful the Steelers & Chiefs will lose any more games. In fact, the best scenario for the Jets to make the playoffs is for the them to win and out and root for Cincy to beat Denver and the Cheifs to win out. Broncos lose the division and Jets have tie breaker for the wildcard.
If we will choose an LB in 1st, we need a freaking athlete, who can stop the run, cover TE and rushing the passer.
Mac has almost a full arsenal of picks.. Think only a 6th rounder for Fitz missing. Ivory is gone. RB at the top of the list! OLB a huge need. ILB a need. Many say we need to draft a OT and I do agree but let's face it Brick can still play and will take a pay cut most likely. Breno is great but not bad either. I think drafting a OT in the later rounds is a better option. We need a playmaker at a position of need and with the first 2 picks I want a RB or LB!
I don't even care if we reach at #20, I just want us to know the guy we pick is going to contribute. Mauldin was a pleasant surprise so I do have faith in our scouting.
