Its their God given right to be miserable fucks that hate everything about the Jets but claim to be Jet fans. They shit on wins, shit on the HC, used to shit on the Qb. Nothing will ever be good enough. Let them suffer and be miserable while the rest of us enjoy this work in progress that is the NEW Jets!
He played the two worst divisions in football h2h and went 6-2. His other 3 wins? Cleveland, and Miami twice. Losses were to Buffalo, NE, Houston, Philly, and Oakland. Every halfway decent team he played he lost to. Bowles has not been great.
alot of those coaches have also been brought in the same time that GMs foolishly overspent tons of money on short term players with the inevitable slide soon down the road. hopefully mac can avoid that cycle by figuring out what to do at LT/CB/WR/DE/QB longterm
Ya kinda have to play the schedule. It's not Bowles fault some of those teams struggled this year. Despite their record, the Giants and Cowboys have pretty good teams.
In order: Can't get Mo signed. Richardson gets suspended. Richardson screws up again after being suspended. Geno gets punched out over lunch money. Eric Decker gets banged up early. Cro can't cover anybody. The Special Teams are a joke. Nick Folk gets IR'd. Calvin Pryor misses a bunch of games. Willie Colon gets banged up and then IR'd early on. Chris Ivory goes through one of the worst slumps a RB has gone through in recent history. Ryan Fitzpatrick gets banged up. Nick Mangold gets banged up. Darrelle Revis gets banged up. David Harris gets banged up. Jets are 9-5. There's no way most of the coaches we've had over the last decade and a half get out to 9-5 given all of the above. This year has been a media disaster perpetually waiting to happen and it has never imploded the way the Jets have so many times in the past. That's on Bowles.
Fire Toilet Bowles. He is clearly going to ultimately fail like every other 9 win first time HC of NYJ has. It's inevitable.
You can only play who is on the schedule. The NFL is a lot closer than people give it credit for. Any given Sunday is a real thing.
Can't stand the OGJF's "Old grumpy Jets fans" ... especially the ones that still go to the games... i hate sitting next to them. *Wilk gets a sack* OGJF: "ehhhh he aint no Klecko" "Ehhhh that aint no real defense.. u wanna see defense? look at the 80's will ya?" "Ehhh Geno Shmeeno" Only players the OGJF's like is Mangold and David Harris.. lol. I don't get them.. what will make them happy?? I can't imagine them winning a super bowl and not complaining about something... "Ehhhh Broadway was more of a class act when he held the trophy i remembuh i was 6 yeahs old" EHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!
Guess it's Bowles fault that the Giants, Cowboys, Colts, and Dolphins (supposedly the tough part of our schedule) sucked ass this year instead of playing to their full potential. Chip Kelly has only beaten i believe 3 teams that have made the playoffs THAT SAME SEASON in two seasons.. go look it up yourself. 20 wins and only 3 notable.. oh well it's his schedule do what you gotta do. And bro we are the JETS. u must forgot we were 4-12 last season. So there are no easy or half way decent teams on our schedule because WE were coming in off of an AWFUL season. If you think most people didn't have us chalked up as an easy W you're crazy. We can nearly triple last seasons success despite giving away a few games. Bowles has done well.. yeah he had his learning curves sorry he didnt come in and reach your perfect expectations but a new regime entirely only needed 2 or 3 tough losses to gel together is special to me. It takes some teams a SEASON to gel after totally transforming the team. Look at Philly.. trandformed the team and they suck until they get things right.. (we lost to them because decker and ivory was out don't even say but they beat ussss blah)
You're very sad. If you look at life the same way you look at the Jets, then it must be a living hell for you with everything being so negative. I can halfway understand it if you've been a Jets fan for 30 years or more, but still, we have choices. You're robbing yourself of any enjoyment from this season or the team you supposedly love. What about all the other sorry teams that played similar schedules as the Jets and they failed to beat those other sorry teams? Last year and for the 3 years prior to that, the Jets would have been one of those teams and would have won only 2-4 games by this point in the season.
Pats played the same schedule as the most part as the Jets... just swap out Steelers for Browns and Broncos for Raiders (and honestly i think the Raiders are tougher than Denver..as seen 2 weeks ago) Panthers sucked and made the playoffs on their "easy schedule" year and go undefeated on their supposed "tough schedule" year... It really just is what it is.
In a way your last sentence is understandable. Many Jets fans and the media loved Rex because he was entertaining in a clownish, buffoonish kind of way. He is also an "everyman" type. There's no censor on his mouth or thinking. People can relate to him. It's funny, because they like him they're willing to overlook his dumb mistakes and the stupid things he says. Conversely, because Bowles' personality isn't like theirs, he isn't entertaining, and doesn't act like "everyman," people aren't as quick to like or understand him, so when the team struggled the perception was that it was his fault and he was a bad HC. Some posters just need to understand that perception doesn't always equal reality and that their expectations aren't always (and maybe even often aren't) realistic. With any rookie HC, there are going to be some struggles, problems of some sort. With a different personality, a different way of leading and motivating, with a different culture of what is acceptable and how the team is supposed to play, and particularly a team that had as many new faces as the Jets did, they have to learn how to play together and how to win. "On any given Sunday" is true in the NFL, and is made even more true due to personnel matchups. We see it almost every year. Good teams lose to teams that are not as good as them or at least struggle to win games that most think they'll win easily. There are many factors to consider and human beings are complex. Some people want to think of HCs, players and human beings as being stamped out by cookie cutters, but nothing could be further from the truth. If Bowles wasn't for real, the team wouldn't be where it is now, competing for a playoff spot and playing meaningful games this late in December. I guess like CBs who get burned, their memories are too short and they fail to remember just how bad the team has been for the last 4 years, and how there was never any hope of making the playoffs. Then again, sadly, some fans just enjoy being miserable. They'd rather be the first to spot a negative and then be right about it, won't admit that they were wrong. As cman said, the rest of us can enjoy the ride this season, and can realistically look forward to a brighter, better future for the team.
With regards to Ivory's slump, he was injured (as he always is at some point in the season). Powell was also hurt, Stacy was ineffective then was hurt and Ridley is just now rounding into football shape. In addition: Fitz was hurt and went into a slump of his own. We don't have a legit PR/KOR on the team. Chris Owusu, who we were counting on big time this year, gets another concussion and is done. Enunwa, who even though he was dropping some passes early, was contributing with his blocking in the running game, gets suspended for 4 games. Demario Davis continues his horrific play Milliner still hasn't contributed anything. In addition to Pryor getting hurt, the depth behind is injured and lost for the season, and the Jets bring in new safeties on the fly to try to learn the system and fit in Rookie CS with new systems and philosophies - it takes times to learn, to trust, and for things to gel With the stuff with which Bowles has had to contend, the team could easily be 4-10 at this point in the season. That he has the team in contention for a playoff spot and at 9-5, should make him an almost shoe-in for Coach of the Year, yet some Jets fans want to fire him. It's amazing, isn't it?
Excuse me? Bowles has done a good job? This team is a talented veteran laden team that has been hamstrung by a coach who has done them no favors. The Jets have been consistently outcoached vs every decent team. Bowles lost the Houston game and that will cost us the playoffs
Dude, you need to take up a new sport because you don't understand anything or know anything about football.
Oh yeah... because Bowles made Devin Smith drop the TD pass.. Because Bowles couldn't personally block JJ Watt his damn self.. I'm pretty sure Mike Tomlin woulda jumped in there and did it right? Oh oh .. or because Bowles didn't say "You know what Revis.. today is the day... you've shut down a lot of great CB's but today.. you're gonna get lit up.. so let me give you some double coverage.. " Oh yeah don't forget Bowles was outcoached so bad that he is pretty much the reason Fitz threw back to back picks... fuck the fact that he locked up and called perfect defenses to give us multiple chances to win the game.. that has nothing to do with TB... only the picks.. You're arguement is weak bro. He's a first time head coach that's currently on a 5 game winning streak in the most important time of the season. You'll be in the Todd Bowles appreciation thread whenever its created... and you'll be happy.
I am very happy with Bowles. You could make a hindsight argument that we should be 12-2. But no one would have made a foresight argument that we should be 12-2 after 14. Our schedule has been favorable. We probably should never have lost to Philly or Houston with Yates or the Bills (damn it-when we had the game in our hands like we did). I will give you Oakland and NE. But teams lose games they should not lose during a season. With our schedule, we just have not had many games where we won games that we should not have won. I want to get to 11, but if we wind up with 10 I won't squawk. The playoffs are out of our control so I refuse to blame them for not making it with 10 or 11. I will be a bit disappointed with 9. Sure the schedule was soft, but tell that to Buffalo and Miami. Never apologize for wins
