This deserves its own thread, I think. How much more will the NFL and the TV networks continue to slow down the game with commercials? Every score; commercial. Every change of possession; commercial. Every slight injury; commercial. And most importantly, now they go to commercial instead of staying with the broadcast to review crucial plays. Biggest play of the game last night, the Fitz almost fumble with less than two minutes left, and instead of staying with the broadcast for 60 seconds to look at the replay, we get more commercials. Networks now routinely miss plays or come back a second before plays start because of advertisements. That's absolutely inexcusable. I don't know if this will change because the NFL is making zillions and probably will not lose viewers, but it is obviously affecting the TV experience. If I were new to football and watched last night's broadcast, I would have probably not given the sport much of a chance. How can you when the game has no rhythm anymore? Maybe if enough people complain to the league they'll speed games up a bit.
You are right but I don't expect any improvement on number of commercials. NFL is a cash cow and as it is on the top today, they will milk every stoppage in the game to make money. Now I accept this as a fact but my problem is the content of the commercials. As a father of 9 year old kids, I hate to see V.iagra commercials or any commercial based on men or women sexuality.
They should adopt what you sometimes see in televised soccer... A logo next to the scoreline, advertising in the border around a reduced screen area, stuff like that... Since the action is continuous, they have to find creative ways to work it in. Not that they have any reason to do that. Everyone just accepts the endless commercials.
NFL has to find the $ to pay Roger Goodell......44 million....each year!!! Absolutely absurd.. How much did OJs dream team get paid?? I know it pays to go to Law School but Goodell could be an Owner one day at this rate
soon they'll be putting ads on the uniforms. Get ready to buy your Darrelle Revis #24 Ford EcoBoost New York Jets jersey
This injury report brought to you by...Hartford medical. I sit through it for Jets games, but I don't watch many other games because of the commercials. CBS seems to be worse than Fox.
CBS always loves to push their shitty shows on us during the game. Same with NBC. "Hey enjoying the game? You know what else you'll enjoy, 4,500 promo's for a J-Lo/Ray Liotta crime drama that will be cancelled after 4 episodes....because that's what Philadelphia wants to see. 47 year old J-Lo playing a cop"
They could do what FOX does with nascar and that is to keep the action going while running the ad on the middle right of the screen. Sent from my KFASWI using Tapatalk
I reluctantly gave up watching games live a few years ago. They're just too slow now especially with the 40 second clock between plays. At the beginning of the 4th quarter SNF had a stretch of :32 of game time that took 15 minutes.
1. Record the game. 2. Sleep 'til 2:30. 3. No TV or radio before game, no calls. 4. Watch game with thumb on fast forward between plays. 5. Finish game in real time. Time saved per season: One full day.
Nothing will change as long as they keep getting record setting ratings. The only real solution is to stop watching. Or start streaming illegally so the viewership numbers go down but you don't miss anything.
Continuous action in soccer. That's an oxymoron. Continuous non-action maybe. Give me the commercials any day over a sport that has 90 minutes of game time , 4-5 true scoring chances a game, 2-0 blow outs, players who feign injury with every physical contact, no clock at the end of games so players and fans know how much time remains (injury time) and the absolute most idiotic method for resolving tie games in all of sport. The game may not stop, but 99% of what goes on is sleep inducing meaningless inaction.
I'll take the trade off of a ton of commercial breaks as long as the jerseys don't become tacky as hell. It works in soccer because the numbers aren't very important and the logos are small. Maybe I'm one of the few that doesn't mind a bunch of commercial breaks. Touchdown, take a piss, grab a brew or some food and back in time to see the next play. Of all the things to nitpick in the sport, and there are a lot, I think this is the least of the worries of a fan. I'd like to see the NFL have an official up in the booth with radio contact to the back judge for pass interferences and the like so he can phone down to officials headsets during the play. There's too many non calls that get called. It'd be terrible along the offensive line but they need to fix the excessive pass interference bullshit. Referees are too scared to miss a call that they're so trigger happy with their flags. And I don't believe in the conspiracies that they're trying to make the wrong call for any teams other than New England and Green Bay really. These officials are graded on their performance they don't want to miss calls or else they're losing out on playoff game checks.
Well, I will say, I had no idea I even wanted to BUY cologne until I saw this commercial. And for that I commend you, networks. _
commercials serve a very useful purpose for me in games: Get a drink; next commercial - get food; next commercial - take a leak, next commercial - get a drink, next commercial refill the snack bowl, next commercial - get another drink, next commercial - take a leak, next commercial - put some ice in my drink ................
