Carson wants to go after ISIS energy in order to infuse that energy into his own lifeless demeanor

These candidates are such a joke. I can't even take this seriously. The art of Bullshit is so high with some. Trump vs. Hillary will be tv bonanza and I think a Trump presidency will lead to a disastah

Although did you all catch that Christie was a federal prosecutor?

Just making sure we all didn't miss that

He was appointed US Attorney back in 2001 wasn't he? It was official in Dec. 01 but vetting process started in Sept. 01

Have you ever seen anyone answer a question in one of these things? They just use the question as a springboard to recite whatever monologue they have canned. Of course, way too many are swayed so much by "their guy" they don't even realize it.

If the GOP would tack towards the middle, they could field a much higher caliber of candidate. This upcoming election will be remembered as the "hold your nose and vote" election. We're not voting for the best candidate, we're voting for the least bad candidate regardless of party.

Hopefully, someone puts the country on auto pilot until 2020.

While on vacation I read a lengthy piece on Rubio, who is interesting at least in the sense that Hillary's operatives seem to think he'd make the most difficult GOP opponent for them. The article explored why that might be the case, that being that Rubio seems acceptable to the GOP establishment while having gotten himself elected with Tea Party support. In other words the thinking is he might be able to bridge the two major parts of the GOP base. Anyone who can't do that is at least at risk of having members of one side or the other stay home on election day.

But as it is playing out, there will be real difficulties for him to do that. Take foreign policy and the Middle East in particular. I suppose to his credit Rubio at least seems to be sketching out some (rather hawkish) proposals, suggesting maybe he'd hire Lindsey Graham on his foreign policy defense team. But is that really the way to go? Is the GOP all in on a return to W's foreign policy?

That's just one example, the underlying question at this point being can anyone unite the GOP base?

More about the debate in particular last night, the guy I find most offensive is Christie. He starts by scaring everyone to leave their homes, then attacks his rivals as incompetent in never managing anything and in having no foreign policy achievements. What about him, then? He was a federal prosecutor, which means what in terms of foreign policy? Then he mentions our top Arab ally, the King of Jordan, as Hussein, when his name is Abdullah. That mistake would not matter so much in other contexts, except that Christie was touting himself as the most competent on the stage in foreign policy.

So he scares everyone, goes negative on all his competitors, has no solution to propose, and demonstrates he's not well informed himself. Is that his idea of the right way to convince people he should be president? To paraphrase Jeb, you don't get elected US president by closing bridges down.

considering the circumstances in the world and at home, it is about the worst time to be having a "hold your nose and vote" election as I don't think it will be possible to have a president that puts this country on auto pilot until 2020.

2015 was a bad year for America at home and abroad... not quite 1968 bad but the times look very similar. heightened concern with big foreign players, big economic and social/racial divide back home.

Which part of the world is laughing? Europe??? Well, I wouldn't laugh if I were in their place, as shit has already hit the fan there. If they don't do something soon, they will be as good as done. The Obama/Clinton policies are heading exactly where Europe is now.

While that was 'wtf?' worthy, it was somewhat amusing hearing fatso call OB a "feckless weakling" - lmao.

Just cannot agree that we are anywhere near 1968. In Vietnam alone American death totals were approach 30,000 with the Army brass requesting an additional 200,000 troops, the Tet Offensive having occurred, and there being no clear way to win. Add in cities burning, the assassinations, all against the backdrop of the Cold War which alone as a truly existential threat was worse than anything we are facing now.

On the other hand we did not have the economic inequality we have now, and I think we are seeing how that is playing into the political divide as GOP base voters no longer trust the party' establishment since they have not delivered for them. On top of that is the more general problem of a changing economy. And long term there is the huge question of what will be the role of America going forward (imo for all the difficulties in 1968, that question had a relatively clear answer).

So, to the extent it is bad now, it is not that bad, and not all that similar.

Christie was from laughable (couldn't he find pants just an inch or so longer?) to downright scary (shooting down planes of a country with thousands of nuclear warheads).

Then, there was Kasich who wanted to punch Russia in the nose. Who's gonna take the punch that comes back? His kids?

Jeb Bush was ... Jeb Bush. Why is he still there? Is he just getting paid to attack Trump at this point? His handlers should finally realize that it's not working and cut the cord.

Fiorina... is there anyone who would actually consider voting for her?

Carson keeps getting weaker and weaker with each debate.

Rand Paul looked pretty good last night but he can only play the spoiler role attacking the leaders.

Yeah, almost as amusing as that fat slob grovelling on his knees for federal emergency funds after Sandy hit. What a perfect modern conservative Christy is. Big government is bad, except when its good.

well i did say not quite 1968 but there are some similarities. Our relationship with Russia is possibly the worst its been since then, the war on terror is looking like its a fight that will never be won and the racial demonstrations we had in 2015 in places like Baltimore and St. Louis are unlike we've had since then. 2015 was a terrible year and I'm looking forward to it being over. Idk how it measures up to 1968, I'm just saying it might be our worst year as a country overall since then.

Trump v. Hillary would be entertaining if you don't care about your country.

I noticed when there is a house fire in my neighborhood we get a lot more people driving through our side roads than ever before, often disrupting traffic. People drive through because they are interested in seeing the destruction. "must-see TV".. but that doesn't mean house fires are good or when faced a choice we elect to see the house fire over no fire.

Well, the thing about Trump is that he has no political baggage. They can only call him a racist, bigot and claim that his brash ideas are not realistic. Hillary, on the other hand, can be called out on her long list of foreign policy failures and of course the infamous email server. Trump is a could be failure (as most others) but Hillary is a proven one.
