Wow. What an awesome gesture. Some dudes don't mind embarrassing themselves. Kudos to him he realized it was time. _
Would love to see Cuddy back in some sort of hitting coach role. Obviously not to replace Long but the young guys could def benefit from having him around in some capacity. Who knows if that's what he wants to do though. I fully expect us to land one of either Span, Parra or Fowler. I'd prefer Fowler. Part of me kinda wanted the Nats to land Heyward cause it would've put some pressure on us to go get Upton or resign Cespedes Now I'd pretty shocked if the Nats don't try to overpay for Upton to come to DC.
Same here. I wish I knew what level of interest the team has in him though. And whats the maximum type of contract they would give him. If we're going for it all the next 2-4 years or so , it would make a lot of sense to just overpay for him in a 4 year contract. The Angels are really the only team I could see giving him 7+ years.
Cespedes meant too much for this team's success to believe the organization could think they could just replicate last season's success without him or a comparable player. Our great pitching didn't have us in a position to be legit contenders before the trade.
Agreed to an extent. Cespedes can be replaced. But Sandy would have to be very creative in doing so. I dont think we can just go in expecting Conforto to be a 25-30 HR guy right off the bat. Even though he has insane potential. Also d'Arnaud has never proven he could stay healthy. Duda's cold streaks and Wright most likely only good for 110-120 games hopefully. They all bring up a lot of uncertainty. Our pitching staff will be good enough to win a lot of games as long as we have professional hitters in the lineup everyday..something we didnt have for a lot of games pre-deadline last season. But with the amount of $$ the team saved by not signing Zobrist , trading Niese , and now Cuddyer retiring , there is so much more flexibility to make a big move.
Todd Frazier's name popping up in trade talks. This guy would make so much sense at 1B for us. And a little at 3B when David needs a spell. I guess they dont need Duda with Votto there but they need young pitching. Id easily give up Wheeler and Montero for him. Throw in Lagares too. Could theoretically trade for Frazier and sign Cespedes or Upton and really have something special on offense.
That would be incredible and I would jump all over it. I would sign Colon back to be our #5 if it landed us Frazier.
Do we trust Cespedes in center? Could we trade for Frazier, sign Cespedes and possibly sign Parra as well?
Everything I've heard has us flat out not interested in Cespedes. Which is just weird to me. Unless he is looking for 7 or 8 years with no wiggle room it doesn't make sense why we wouldn't be in on him. Realistically , I think we will sign either Parra or Fowler and make a trade for a power bat like Frazier who is signed for cheap. Probably just all depends on which young guys the team wants to move. I really want to upgrade 1st base. Duda is solid but way too streaky. Maybe him plus a guy like Plawecki or Nimmo could land us an upgrade at 1st base? If the team isn't gonna overpay for free agents atleast they have the pieces to put together a decent trade.
Reds are retarded. They give up the best player in a 3 team deal and somehow the Dodgers get the best young player from the team thats getting Frazier? Wow.

$4.5 mil for De Aza who is set to platoon with Lagares in CF. He doesn't even play CF and he's a bench guy. Mets reportedly don't want Span or Parra for whatever reason (money) Walker, Cabrera, Colon and De Aza might just be what we need to return to the WS
