It's true. Aging doesn't always equal regression. Look at Gary Barnidge (30 yrs old) and Benjamin Watson (34 yrs old), both having the best years of their career.

what does this have to do with a player in the 4th year of his career?

Of course players get older year to year, which is why the terms aging and getting older are never used in sports unless it is in reference to skill regression. Nobody has ever used the terms getting older or aging for a player turning 22, so bringing that up is irrelevant.

Young players are expected to get better year to year due to experience not age.

After that, commentary of age and getting older is used in regards to evaluating inevitable decline. Aging in sports is about discussing decline which is inevitable.

Just going to lay it out there: looking for picks is what Revis should be doing at this stage of his career. It's the way to make himself a huge factor again, because nobody shuts down #1 WR's the way he used too before the knee injury and 30.

I'm really happy with the way he's playing this year and I think it's a big part of the reason the Jets got off to the fast start. He's looking just fine now also.

It doesn't. But it does have a lot to do with his main point. His main point was that aging doesn't always equate to regression, which is true. He just used a bad analogy. What's so hard to understand about that?

Yes, as I said before, he will turn into Ty Law, then Johnny Sample. When Sample came to the Jets he lived completely by his wits. But he was not young. Law too, to a younger degree. But Revis right now reminds me of the Law who starred for the Pats, not the one who came to the Jets.

father time undefeated. pointing out a couple of guys who had good years late in there career doesn't change that. pointing out a guy in the fourth year of his career being better than his first, in this context, is nothing short of retarded.

i dont think he is anywhere near the player he was the last time he was here. he is still a top 5 corner and probably an all-pro, but the guy who was here in 2010 the year charles woodson won DPOTY, they guy was in a whole different universe

He's not as good as he was 4 years ago, but he's still the best in the NFL. also recievers keep getting better and better and offenses game plan ways to get their top WRs in good spots for catches with rubs, picks, moving them around etc.

lol Peterson that gave up a 113 average QB rating just a year ago is better than revis? I'm sorry but pat has been apart of every #1 WRs highlight tape. Making a catch on revis period is a highlight. there's still a nice distance between the two if u ask me

Statistically NE is much better on defense this year WITHOUT Revis.

Revis is definitely losing it. I wouldn't be shocked to see him make the switch to safety year 3 of that contract.

NE had a hell of an easier schedule this year than last, especially as it pertains to opposing offenses. I would hope they would look better statistically. also they've had younger players develop and emerge, including one of which (Butler) that Darrelle Revis aided in that development tremendously.

You're not focusing on his main point. You're focused on the bad analogy.

It's obvious he's not the same guy he once was but still an effective corner. Similar to how champ baileys career went along.
