My sunshiner attitude is being tested to the core after this week. I'm at a cross roads. Wonder how you guys see it.

"Win and you are in" is at this time of year much easier said than done. There are no gimmie games, no scrub teams ahead, no one is going to let you waltz in and win, you have to earn it.
To make the playoffs the Jets must navigate through a short but very winding road, full of dangerous traps and land mines.
We can not take anything for granted, we are not that good. This is not an upper tier championship team, but a street fighter that while unpolished is willing to fight to the end.

As we enter these much coveted period I hope our coaching staff amps up the expectation of every single member of this team including the entire coaching staff. We are rookies at the top with room to improve.

To be successful we need to recognize what changes need to be made on the field and what areas of improvement are needed. Then practice the crap out of it.

As I see it, as thrilled as I am about our current status, it could unravel very quickly into a sad situation unless we improve some fundamentals.

1- We can not start slow and try to catch up. We need to be more aggressive and open minded on our first down calls. We need to figure out what is ailing our running game and fix it ASAP. We need to give Fitz time.
2- We need to get a blank sheet of paper and redraw our special teams plan going forward and staff it with more talent if need be.
3- We need to rethink carefully and understand why we are making the crucial mistakes and penalties we are making and fix it.
4- We need to get teams off the field and minimize third down completions. We are too hot and cold with major mental lapses
5- We need our wounded soldiers and starters back on the field as soon as possible.
6- We need our leaders to take charge and motivate the youngsters into action.
7- Each player and coach needs TO DO HIS JOB AND TRUST THE REST TO DO THEIRS

I know I speak from my heart and not from a position of knowledge, but if we beat the Titans and Dallas in good fashion, JetLife stadium will absolutely rock with the best and most supporting fan base since God knows when COME THE NE GAME. The intensity along will propel a Jets to a win. After that, confidence and anger will blow it open in Buffalo.

We need to take care of business over the next two weeks, and the momentum will be on our favor the rest of the way. Go Jets.

for sure it aint easy but it's more possible than not IMO. If Dallas loses tonight they may very well let us "waltz in and win" on saturday night in the place where they play so dreadfully bad... home. lol.

Tennessee at home won't be a cake walk and a lot of fans patience will be tested again but we should pull that game in a close defensive battle.

so say we win those 2 then we're 9-5 going into the last 2 weeks vs a buffalo team that may not even be in the race anymore by then and the damn Patriots.

Houston is one loss away from saying "at least we tried"..

KC is ahead of us and has a good chance to win out or only take a loss or 2.. i think the Raiders get them next time they match up though.

Eagles may have gotten a spark at the perfect time to beat buffalo next week . And the revenge ass whooping we'll have in store for Rex will make ending their season so much sweeter.

Of course this is just all my speculation but i just don't think things are so bad esp. with a win over Tennessee sunday.

When's the last time the Jets put together a 6 game winning streak? 3-1 is the best we can hope for IMO, gotta hope either KC or PIT loses 2 games. Huge Cincy fans on Sunday.

If we go 3-1 and either of them goes 2-2 we're in

This is an amazing simulator. I did the simulator for all 4 weeks and if we win 3 out of 4 the one loss must be the Cowboys presuming as I did that the Steelers lose this week and win the next 3 and the Chiefs win the next 4. I also presumed that if we go 2-2 we are out and if we win all 4 we are in at least in my own mind. Also, picked the bills to win except us. The first one is my run and the second is the start

Not true...are you forgetting about Buffalo, Indy, the Texans... ...
If our one loss is to Buffalo and the Texans win out we lose pretty much every tiebreaker.. check the link I posted.

We can STILL miss the playoffs @ 10-6

over the course of time I have learned not to predict; nor evaluate every cross road and corner this team comes to. I enjoy one week at a time, not to use the cliche, but to actually just go a week at a time and not formulate any wild pipe dreams or set up fantasy football scenarios.I don't care what the other teams schedules are and who they need to beat to get in - I really don't. It is just easier to minimize the Jets to a week to week package and you find that you can absorb the thrill of victory or the perils of defeat much, much easier.

Houston and Indy are both 6-6 and have a head to head, meaning that one team will win the AFC south and the other will have at least 7 losses, so neither team can edge us out for a wild card if we go 10-6. I was presuming our 1 loss is to the Patriots, not the Bills, because our playoff picture gets really messy if we lose to Buffalo because of divisional tie breaking procedures. If Buffalo wins out we're pretty much screwed no matter what.

Don't make this more complicated than it really is. For the Jets to make the playoffs - as do ALL teams in the NFL - a competent QB is all that's is required. Fitzpatrick played well against the Giants and was, imo, the reason the Jets were able to come out on top. IF he plays equally well for the remaining games, Jets are in like flint. Notice that all teams that are competing for a playoff spot have a very good QB. That's the ticket.

Don't like our chances at Buffalo - Jets have to play a perfect game - and those are not good odds that they will.

It starts with beating the titans and cowboys the worst in both confrences ,If we can't do that we shouldn't be in the playoffs

At Buffalo, they will have to pay a perfect game - having played an abysmal game at our own home turf and 'almost' winning is an abomination.

To have a real chance at getting in the Jets need to beat the Titans, Patriots and Bills. That puts them at 8-4 in the conference and gives them the tie-breaker over a 10-6 Steelers finish. If the Steelers win 11 we cannot beat them for a playoff spot. If the Chiefs win 10 and we win 10 we cannot beat them for a playoff spot.

We could be the hottest team in the NFL down the stretch and finish 11-5 and still miss the playoffs if the Steelers and Chiefs win out also.

We've got to be rooting hard for those 2 teams in particular to lose if we want a realistic chance at a wild card.

The Jets don't have to play a perfect game to beat Buffalo.

Jets win out. Tough yes, but not impossible.

OK so KC has on paper the least challenging schedule ( only potential albeit long shot playoff contender being the Raiders) so what's more likely? For KC to finish with a winning streak of eleven after a 1-4 start? Or for the Jets to run the table and finish with a streak of six wins? I say you could assume one more loss for each team. Unfortunately for us we can not afford that loss to be against any AFC remaining opponent. So we need to suck it up and beat the Titans, the Pats, and the Bills in the dead of winter. That is our only shot.
While not desirable, our only loss can be against Dallas to remain in the hunt.
Pittsburg with a tough schedule including two division leaders Denver and Cinci I believe, could have one more loss in them for sure. May be as early as tomorrow.
We have a chance, and we have control. Let's see how good we can be. The playoff journey for the Jets starts this Sunday.

I think it will be interesting to see how we come together under Todd Bowles. He's had enough time to make necessary changes and the best coaches always seem to get their teams to win.
