You're welcome! Great gif for the situation. I also appreciated it because I think Brittany has a beautiful face (although I can't stand her singing). LOL
haha, same. When in doubt, I definitely lean towards posting GIFS of beautiful women. Why not kill two birds with one stone?
The vast majority of NFL GMs do not last 5 years, they are paid to win now, go ahead and live in your bubble that thinks NFL jobs are like working at a bank with 10 year master plans. The Jets have had 6 GMs in the last 20 years, average tenure of 3.33 years. GMs stay in a job in most cases by winning, that is done by procuring the current top talent, not letting that talent walk because in 5 years they may have to pay someone else. The GMs that worry too much about 5 years down the road field crap teams like Idzik did, bet he thought he was going to be able to keep under the cap every year, no problem. Only issue was he worried about the cap but not the talent and the cap looked good but the talent was shit. No one said anything about just throwing any number out there and my post was actually quite specific as to the situation but it seems your reading comprehension is just lacking. Once again, "I questioned the sense in trying to guess if Williams will pan out and guessing what he will be getting paid in 5 years and using that to guess what Wilkerson should get paid. It's moronic to try and guess at all that and think it has some huge effect on what the front office will offer Wilk." 1. Will Williams pan out? 2. What will Williams get paid in 5 years? 3. It's moronic to try and guess at 1 and 2 and think it has some huge effect on what the front office will offer Wilk
Fair points. I do agree that trying to guess at Williams' potential probably isn't a huge factor in what the offer is. But I do believe it does and have to have a part in it. But at this moment I would be leaning more towards paying Wilk over hoping that Williams will be his replacement, in that sense it would be a huge gamble to opt for the latter situation. As to your point about NFL GM's tenures. You are correct in the average tenure being significantly less than five years however I would think that most if not all would develop a long-term plan in hopes of keeping their job. Some execute better at providing talent to be relevant/successful short-term whilst keeping long-term in mind (could Mac be that GM). I doubt that Mac is trying to provide a loaded roster currently without thinking of building this team for years to come. I doubt he is in the office thinking "Gee I know I won't last five years so I can just blow the farm now and I'll be gone by the time shit hits the fan anyway". Some other GM's (Idzik) seem to have a long-term plan without being able to provide even a halfway attempt at being competitive short-term. So I can see both sides of the coin in GM's views long-term but I think it's more a product of execution rather than willingness.
Williams only impact on the Wilkerson's deal is wether or not the jets role with him instead of Wilk. Williams second contract cannot be estimated at this time for obvious reasons I was actually referring to Dareus's deal.
Thats… actually a really good point. There aren't many DE's that can do what he does, the net effect of his and the other D-lineman's impact is the ability to add an extra man on other units relatively stress free. Thats worth quite a bit in the end. He's a top tier 3-4 player, and we're a team with that base. Unless the scenario is completely unworkable, I don't see why I don't re-sign him, even for a contract worth 10's if millions a year. He's a more crucial and less replaceable piece of the puzzle than advertised. We're kidding ourselves if we think he's worth any less than 12 million a year at this point.
I think if the Jets could sign him to a long term deal for for $12 million per year with $30 or $36 million guaranteed they would absolutely do so. I think Mo wants mo'. If they can't reach a deal with him then they can franchise him, but that's going to be something like a $15 million cap charge next year and even more the following year. Even with couples gone and Cromartie cut, I don't think they'll be able to do that given their other needs and other players that they need to resign (Fitz, Ivory, etc.). I expect they'll do their best to resign Mo in the offseason at an affordable price. If they can't do that then they'll franchise Mo with a non-exclusive designation and hope another team signs him and gives up two 1st round draft picks (although they have the option to match). If they can get two first round picks for Mo then I think they take the draft picks and run. If another team is not willing to sign him and give up two first round picks then I expect the Jets will trade him if they cannot reach agreement with him. The name of the game is young affordable talent and draft picks give you those. We now have a GM who's supposed to be a good talent evaluator and we should see what he can do with more picks. The fact of the matter is that the d-line is a real position of strength on this team with a lot of very good young talent and the loss of Mo for a 1st round pick plus wouldn't be terrible.
where are you coming up with this? people stack the box on us successfully all the time. how are the days of this over? you're trying to pass some really dumb shit as fact in this thread
At first I thought "Why would you want Geno to be your account's name?" but then I read this post and everything became clear...
Have you watched out offense this year? Breno and Brick have not been great, but Gailey has been able to scheme around it.
