So here's the funny thing. Folks have been crowing about how great a prospect Connor Cook is. Beathard had been better than Cook tonite. Cook just isn't that good. _
Because this class is incredibly weak. And some one HAS to draft a QB in round 1. Just ask the Bills about EJ Manuel. _
Or it's just coaching. Patriots without Brady still had a good season. Must be the system. Packers went from Favre to Rodgers seemlessly, system?
Everyone knows the Baylor system makes life easy for QBs. That's why we could get Petty late in the draft. Regardless of that Petty has everything you want in a QB physically, as a leader, has an arm and he's intelligent as well. Coachable and patient, but with a drive to be successful. If we teach him how to read a defense he'd be that guy you draft #1 overall. Really pulling for him.
I think that we'll be able to get Lynch or Cook, most likely Cook. He didn't grow as a qb as much as I thought he would but he's still a better long term option than Fitz/Geno/Petty. Legooooo.
Bruh, you liked petty's senior tape more than cook's? I'm not a Cook homer, by any means but he's better than Petty. Cook could be a better version of Kirk Cousins and we can win with that.
Ah yeah no. Cook is awful. Inaccurate, stiff, immobile, leadership issues. Oh yeah, but he can take snaps from under center. Big deal. Mariota proved that's a bullshit red herring. Petty is much more accurate, has a much stronger arm, throws a much prettier ball, is WAY more athletic and has true leadership qualities. And he's been taking snaps from under center for a full year. In a real NFL offense. Petty was a better prospect than Cook coming out of college and now with a year of the NFL under his belt, Cook is way way back in Petty's rear view mirror. If you're going to look at their tape look no further than their head to head bowl game. Petty was far the superior QB. _
If Fitz keeps this offense in the top 10 for the rest of the season he can keep the job, this offense is taylored for him to succeed, and this draft class of QBs is looking worse as the year goes on (as most classes do by December). Guess we might see Petty after all next season. I never liked Cook like never, now to find out that he's an asshole and reminds scouts of Jay Cutler... Makes total sense now he's always seemed so average... Took advantage of a week B1G and always had great defenses at Michigan State.
I want someone to explain to me what it is they like about Connor Cook that is better than Bryce Petty. Arm? No. Accuracy? No. Mobility? No. Athleticism? No. Throwing on the run? No. Toughness? No. Leadership? No. Cook is an inch taller. Yes. Cook has taken snaps from under center? Called plays in a huddle? Taken 5 and 7 step drops? Played in a pro style offense? Read defenses? Yes. But Petty has been doing it or practicing it for a year in the real NFL. _
Some posters here that I respect a lot really like him, but I don't get it. I've seen him play several times and have NEVER been impressed by him in any form or fashion. The biggest thing for me is the way he ALWAYS throws flat-footed and never steps into his throws. In the Northeast that's a recipe for interceptions. No thanks. If the Jets CS think they can break him of that habit, I wouldn't be opposed to their using another 4th round pick to take him, but I don't think I'd be willing to use even a 3rd or 2nd round pick on him.
I just saw this site mocked Christian Hackenberg to Buffalo hahahahaaaaa. http://www.draftsite.com/nfl/mock-draft/2016/ _
That's an interesting mock as far as the Jets are concerned with them taking OLB, CB, OT, OG, OT & TE. No PR, WR or RB. Another 1st round defensive pick. Some Jets fans would freak. LOL He also missed that the Jets' pick that the Texans get is now in the 6th round, not 7th.
I'm already seeing some first round grades on Wentz even with the FBS level of competition and the injury. This was my fear post Senior Bowl week but that looks like it might already be the case now.
