I know you all noticed that when we are trailing that the level of play improves. Perhaps it's because everything was on the line but why doesnt the offense play with that kind of level the entire game. Playcalling? Perhaps.
We cannot continue to go through the motions for the first half and hope things work and then turn it on at the end. This needs to be more consistent.
There has been a couple of games that we have been really bad in the first half.
I just want them to play all 4 quarters like they do in the last quarter, they play with fire and purpose when they know they have no other options but to speed it up and get to work. I think Chan needs to set them up a little better from the start.

I know I was a bit vague but I know you've all seen it too. I'm not going to get into statistics and what not. (although I love that stuff) but from the naked eye i know you've seen the struggles we have in the first part of games versus the latter part.

It's Fitzpatrick not the play calling. It's how the guy has played his whole career. I don't even know if I can explain it right but his pace is maddening.

He's the nerd in gym class who hangs out in the back against the wall the whole dodgeball game so he can be there at the end.

He's the starting pitcher who takes freaking forever to get through innings.

It's not necessarily a bad thing, you take the good with the bad but it's how he plays. It looks remarkably different these days because most young QBs are rhythm passers- he is not.

It's why with 5 mins left in the game and he's slowly dusting himself off, chewing gum, adjusting his jersey in the huddle and we are going freaking crazy to tell him to hurry up- he's simply not going to until he has to.

Disagree. I think it's Gailey calling the plays and he just executes them. Or it's Bowles with that out of it look after the coin toss that's hardly inspiring the troops to play hard the first half. Guy expects his "professionals " to play hard or the CS to pump them up

Definitely annoying we just always take the field flat as a pancake

I see Fitz get in a rhythm hitting Marshall and Decker...we as a team are going faster there

Absolutely. I don't think it's urgency I just think Ivory is banged up and it takes awhile for Gailey to transition from the game plan to what's next when Ivory has to come off the field for a few series after the opening drive.

I think the Jets need to treat Ivory differently at this point. He's obviously hurting at this point in the season and maybe they should be using him more as a decoy, to avoid the "Ivory is on the field so it's a run" problem that would otherwise occur if they limited his participation to a few plays each series.

Let him block for Fitzpatrick and then release into the flats more often. Run more spread with him in the game, maybe even lined up in the slot now and then.

This is Thursday talk for sure. Have a doughnut and let the pro's do their job. Try to take away what the Titans do best and exploit their weaknesses. The same every week. Health determines what's possible and what the team has to finesse. Go Jets!

Agreed, its Gailey. It's like he ignores the weaknesses of the other team in the 1st half, sometimes for 3/4 of the game and just calls dumb plays at the wrong time with the wrong personnel then he suddenly wakes up late in the game and calls plays that he should have all game long. Yes they beat the Giants in OT but they should have won that game easily "if" he attacked them by passing all game long. They didn't start attacking their poor pass D until they were behind. They were VERY lucky the Giants went for it on 4th down instead of kicking a FG. It shouldn't have come to that though.

The use of Ivory/Stacy/Ridley and somewhat Powell is maddening. I've lost count of how many times 3 different backs got the ball on 3 consecutive plays. At least someone had a clue how to use Powell against the Giants. I have little faith it was Gailey's thought.

When teams double Marshall look to Decker as the secondary option, not Enunwa, Cumberland, Davis. Stop throwing the ball to Smith on a go route on 2nd and 10. You do that on 2nd and 2/3 in plus territory.

I'm all for blowing out the other team in the first quarter. We should make that a priority. Get it done!

Gailey better hit the books and the film . I can only imagine he wanted to "establish the run to set up the pass" otherwise not sure what CG thinking. ithink the second half of the game had more passing and screens to Powell right? He makes Fitz target other receivers cause BM and Decker are smother covered?? Yeah the throws to PE Davis etc for long yardage is stupid unless they wide open

No Fly Zone and NY Jets012, are you guys serious? Do you really think that Gailey just chooses to ignore the other team's weaknesses in the first half? Why in the world would he do that? Do you think he's trying to sabotage Bowles for bringing him out of retirement, or sabotage the Jets for beating him when he was the HC of the Bills? You do realize all the game film they have that clearly shows other teams weaknesses, their tendencies, etc. Similarly, he knows the other team knows the Jets' weaknesses and tendencies. I'm not saying that Gailey is perfect by any means, but still, he has forgotten more about offense than any of us will ever know. There could be a myriad of reasons that he calls the plays the way he does in the first half. Perhaps it's because he/the Jets saw some weakness or tendency of that team they're trying to exploit. Perhaps the other team has lost a key player on D to injury, and they're trying to take advantage of that. Perhaps they're trying a new way of attacking a defense. Perhaps he's setting the other team up, or trying to mislead other teams who will see the game film.

Has it ever occurred to you that the plays he calls "late in the game" work because of the way the first half was called, that perhaps he has been setting the other team up? You have no way of knowing that the plays that work so well late in the game would have worked early, or worked all game long. Please understand that I'm not trying to beat you two up. You're good posters and among my favorites. You could be right in some circumstances. All I'm trying to say is that maybe you ought to dial the rhetoric down a little, step back and perhaps consider that there could reasons that we can't see for the way he calls the games. Several posters have commented about how Fitz starts slowly and doesn't play with a sense of urgency. Gailey may have to be adjusting the way he likes to do things to fit Fitz' personality and the way he plays best. Gailey could be more conservative trying to prevent TOs by Fitz. We've seen that when Fitz gets too aggressive, he throws into double and triple coverage. Then when he has made a TO or two, he suddenly gets afraid to go downfield. Is that really what you want, i.e., the team to come out very aggressively, have Fitz turn the ball over a time or two, leading to scores for the other team, the Jets get behind, and then Fitz, fearing more TOs plays less aggressively and thus the Jets lose any chance of winning?

A for the Giants game, did you even watch it? Fitz was under pressure and being hit most of the game. If Gailey had attacked them by passing all game long, Fitz could have been so banged up that he either was on IR by now, or played like he has towards the end of other seasons when he was banged up (not played well).

As for the handling/use of the RBs, we know that Ivory tends to wear down and can't carry the full load. Did it ever occur to you that by using the other RBs he was trying to lessen the burden and load on Ivory to keep him healthier and fresher for late int he season? Ivory has also been banged up and had to miss some time/games as it is. In addition, the other RBs are on the roster for a reason. The same thing goes for Enunwa, Cumberland and Davis. They are professionals and being paid. They need to earn their salary and make contributions to the team. We don't see what happens in practice. Those 3 might play great in practice, then choke in games. They need some contributions from them other than blocking from Davis and Enunwa. Some posters kill Gailey for being predictable (have you?), then when he tries to do something that isn't predictable, some of you kill him. They need to spread the ball around to keep from being too predictable and causing other teams to totally key on Marshall, Decker and Ivory. The bottom line is that Gailey can't play for the players. They have to execute. IMO that's been the majority of the problem...the players haven't been executing like they should.

As for the go route on 2nd and 10, you don't know what the other team's tendencies are, or what matchups may be there that Gailey is trying to exploit. Again, he shouldn't be predictable and always do it on the down and distance you cite. Also, the players need to execute by getting open and then catching the ball.

The comments about Bowles' face are just silly. These are professionals they shouldn't need a "rah-rah" motivational speech to get them up and ready to play, and whatever look happens to be on Bowles' face shouldn't affect how they play. That's just a lame excuse. It's a long season. "Rah-rah" motivation doesn't work every week. We saw that with Rex. I think confidence has something to do with this, and Bowles alluded to it following the Giants game. The players need to believe in themselves and each other and play with confidence. What appears as flat, may be pressing on their parts, or a lack of confidence.

I have to disagree. You don't wait until late in the game down 10-13-14-20 or whatever before you take your head out of your ass and call good plays. This is a team that is built to play from ahead. They got very lucky beating the Giants coming from behind because Coughlin had a brain cramp and tried to play bully instead of kicking a FG that would have won them the game.

You don't throw a go route to a rookie receiver on 2nd and 10 from your own 25 when that receiver hasn't been able to get separation all year and your QB can't reach him downfield anyway.

You don't rotate RB's on every play like its a wrestling tag team match.

Gailey isn't smart enough to play stupid in the 1st half and then come on strong in the second half. He's just piss poor at game planning and doesn't realize his stupid ass calls don't work until later in the game.

Sorry, but you're talking out of your ass, ranting and raving, and really have no clue what you're talking about. You don't know what Smith has done in practice, and how is he ever going to learn if they don't give him chances? There's also the matter that by taking the deep shots like that, whether they succeed or not, it helps open up underneath routes and the rushing attack.

It's you who is calling the plays in the first half bad. That doesn't make them bad. If the players executed the plays, they would be good plays. Claiming that he's playing stupid in the first half and then smart in the 2nd is stupid. That's not what I said.

You're also not considering the fact that Fitz and the offense are playing so well (when they do) because of the job that Gailey is doing as OC and because of Gailey's system.

I guess I gave you too much credit. I thought you were smarter and more mature than this, or maybe you're going through a rough stretch in real life. If it's the latter, I'm sorry and hope it improves soon, but right now you're just acting like a moron who thinks he knows more than professionals. If you know so much, how come you're not working as an OC at the collegiate or NFL levels? You have maybe 1/4 or 1/3 the facts (if that much) that Gailey has, zero experience in the NFL and probably no experience in football outside of maybe high school ball, and you know more than Gailey? That's just laughable.

A comfortable lead going into halftime will be so ideal against a team like Tennesse. The last thing we need is Mariota running rampant and we are down scores.

I have as much right to comment on what I see as anyone as do you. There is no need for personal attacks. If you see things differently and you think Gailey is the greatest, go ahead and praise him but don't ever attack me because I don't think he's very good. Take your personal attacks and go fuck yourself.

When I see the same stupid play over and over and over and over throwing on an early down to a rookie on a go route that has never worked once this year then yes its a problem when your OC makes that same mistake continually. If they want to take a shot at the appropriate time go for it. I don't have to watch practice to see the kid hasn't gotten ANY separation all year. Practice isn't game speed or conditions.

The offense is doing reasonably well in spite of Gailey. Breno and Winters are awful yet they keep running Ivory to that side for no gain or negative yards. At some point Gailey needs to realize they need help from a TE / C if they're going to run to the right. He hasn't yet realized they need help yet he still runs that on 2nd and long creating 3rd and long or longer. That's poor game calling not knowing down and distance and personnel.

I never said that you had no right to comment. Everyone is entitled to their opinion no matter how full of sheit it is. But don't expect to voice your opinion in a ridiculous manner and not get called for it on a fan site on the internet. I made no personal attack. It's not personal. I have nothing against you, but rather your opinion and the way you're voicing it. I called you out on what you said. Big difference. You're talking like you're some kind of expert and know more than Gailey, and that's laughable. If you can't see that and realize how you're making yourself look dumb by doing that, that's your problem, and I feel sorry for you.

Breno and Winters are bad, but Breno is a much better run blocker than Brick. Carpenter is better than Winters, so it's pretty much a wash.

    Personal attacks are like wine.

If someone is too aggressive without a good argument, give them a smooth red blend of "you need to find your ass in a closet unless you want to be treated like a stupid bitch."

If someone is just very adamant about their argument and won't give an inch, and only provides their own weak rationale, a fruity white glass of "there isn't a fucking shred of logic in your argument, and I know you aren't smart enough to realize it" should be on the menu.

When someone is telling the whole world how stupid they are, when the world isn't what's stupid, I'd suggest a fruit infused Sangria that contains "Hey fuckhead, you are too god damned stupid to walk five blocks without getting hit by a bus, please keep talking to us on your cellphone in Midtown."

This is just a sampling of the wine list.

My problem with NC has always been that he's more of a microbrew kind of dude. He doesn't understand the wine, but he's definitely in the right restaurant.

I don't drink wine, and I try, I really try, to keep my comments here in the realm of what I'd say to someone's face.

    But that's just me.

    I don't even poop at work...let alone a party.

It's just so much more gratifying to have your neighbors scared of you.
