Hmm so is the absolute dream scenario that kc, pitt, and us win out, and pats lose out to miss the playoffs?

Patriots, Bengals, and Broncos are not only leading their divisions but have 10 wins.

AFC South has Colts (6-5), Texans (6-6), Jaguars (4-8), and Titans (3-9) with the Division up for grabs:

Assuming Steelers close out their game for a win over the Colts:

Wild card Contenders with at least 5 wins so far
    Chiefs (7-5) - Chargers / Ravens / Browns / Raiders
    Jets (7-5) - Titans / Cowboys / Patriots / Bills
    Steelers (7-5) - Bengals / Broncos / Ravens / Browns
    ============
    Bills (6-6) - Eagles / Redskins / Cowboys / Jets
    #2 AFC South Team
    Colts (6-6) - Jaguars / Texans / Dolphins / Titans
    Texans (6-6) - Patriots / Colts / Titans / Jaguars
    ================
    Raiders (5-7) - Broncos / Packers / Chargers / Chiefs
    Dolphins (5-7) - Giants / Chargers / Colts / Patriots

I think the Chiefs take one playoff spot and we need to beat the Bills out for the other one.

While a win against the Patriots would be nice the Bills game is for all of the marbles.

Unless the Bills lose their next two (something I don't think will happen, but it's not impossible), in which case they are no longer a threat to us as long as we win 9 games.

We may need to win out to have a shot. The Chiefs getting hot has made things difficult.

I definitely think the Chiefs are going to get the #5 seed, but I still think if we win 10, we very likely get in, mainly because I could easily see both PITT losing two more games as well as Buffalo losing at least 1 more game.

    Stop the math
    I hate math

The jets have never ever won the last 6 games of a season that I recall.....

Sorry if I'm mistaken, John Walker in my blood ATM

Didn't even realize KC has won 6 games in a row. At 1-5 and losing Charles for the year, I thought they were essentially dead in the water. Kudos to them for keeping it up.

correct me if I'm wrong but we can clinch at with just a win, no help, home vs the pats week 16
    1) Win vs Titians, Cowboys
    2) Texans lose 1 of next 2 games ( vs. Pats, @ Colts,)
    3) Bills lose 1 of next 2 games (@ Eagles, @ Redskins )
    4) Steelers lose next 2 (@ cincy, vs denver)

this sets up us week 16 vs pats win and were in at home now this would be SWEETTTTTT

i know it sounds kinda crazy but it seems plausible

I don't understand the logic for Houston losing. Don't we want Houston to win the division, and only have to contend with the Colts in which case we have the tie-breaker? Maybe its just be as I live in Houston, and would love to see the Jets again down here.

Yep. I still have a bad feeling that the clusterfuck of a game vs Houston will bite the JETS in the ass somehow........

I think the Bills lose sunday in Philly. That'll put them at 6-7, essentially eliminating them. That's a classic RR loss. Big bounce back win at home against a playoff contender. Only to go on the road the following week against an average NFC team and blow it.

    ---

I worry about KC and Pittsburgh blocking the Jets out. KC because their schedule is so damn easy and Pittsburgh because they have a lot of momentum right now. Pittsburgh & KC both at 10-6 blocks out a 10-6 Jets team from postseason.

Thats a typical Rex Ryan loss. Big win, deflating loss to some team they got no business losing to. I can guarantee you if philly goes with the same game plan they used this week, theyll beat buffalo.

but as of now we're in and Pitt is out. does that mean that they will have a better conference record if all 2 teams finish at 10-6?

I think Pitt gets in, I don't think KC can maintain. They don't have that much talent on that team and Alex Smith is average on his best day. Realistically I think 1. Cincy 2. New England 3. Denver 4. Houston 5. NYJ 6. Pitt

Doesnt that depend largely on if the losses come against AFC opponents?

    I disagree completely.

Kansas City might have the easiest last 4 games in the NFL. They play San Diego, Baltimore, Cleveland, and then Oakland.

Pittsburgh plays Cincinatti, Denver, Baltimore, and Cleveland.

Idc how average Kansas City looks. That's one easy ass schedule. Pitt has to face a tough game against Cincinnati, and then turn around and play Denver.

I don't see Kansas City missing the playoffs. Kansas City plays teams with a combined record of 14 and 34. Pittsburgh plays teams with a combined record of 26 and 22.

    Ill take Kansas City

Did you see us losing to Oakland, Houston, or the Iggles? I just don't think they can maintain. On paper yes. they should win those games.

    That's besides the point.

This is a playoff race now. I'd put my money on Kansas City. Pittsburgh has to play a 10-2 Cincinatti team followed by a 10-2 Denver team. That's tough as hell
