This roster is more then adequate to easily have double digit wins this season considering the team's we've faced and the ones we face over the next few weeks. Philly is a complete dumpster fire, Oakland is decent but still a season or two away from making a serious playoff run, we managed to throw harder then the Bills even though Rex was desperately trying to hand us a victory, we managed to lose to T.J Yates when we played Houston. The only loss that should not have come as a surprise was against New England.

There really wasn't a single team we faced that was truly better then us at all, even New England. I don't think im overrating the talent at all considering the competition were facing.

I don't subscribe to the attitude that you should be happy with a season just because you're X amount of wins better then the previous year or that we are still in contention for a playoff spot, no. How I view a season and what makes me lose my mind is "did we beat the teams we were supposed to beat".

Is it to say I'm one of the "SOJF" because I'm still frustrated with this team even though statistically we have a WR that's doing this or a QB that's doing that , I say no.
WINNING is what it's all about and as far as I can see we aren't winning games we should be winning and thus underachieving .

I don't want to hear about a new regime needing time to implement their scheme or players needing to mesh together, I'm basing the season on "what games did we lose that we should have won" and this has been a very frustrating season as far as that goes.

I get LIVID when I see us come out "flat" and give away games that teams are trying so hard to give away to us!
That's what burns my ass as a Jets fan, the fact that no matter who the coach is or who the players are we still never play consistent football and THAT is what separates winning teams from losing teams.

Sure there are slipups along the way even for winning teams but those slipups are few and far between.

You can label me a "darksider" or whatever you want but I always support my team. I equate it to raising a child. You see your kid underachieve or not put forth effort in what they are trying to accomplish you get frustrated and maybe you yell and scream but you always love & support them. You just want to see them live up to their abilities.
That's what frustrates me most as a fan of this team, we never seem to live up to our potential.

Based on last year, all I was hoping for this year was to play meaningful games deep into September.

We got that plus October, November and into December.

Yeah, it's been a fun year for sure.

To the OP good job reminding us that this years Jet team is much different than last year. After the loss to the Texans I got the SOJF illness big time. The win against Miami removed some of that disease.

We are in different territory right now. Need to get our injured guys healthy. Keep the rest of the the team healthy.

I am of the opinion that team, as it is composed right now, can make the playoffs.

I am not tickled pink with TB/CG either but Mac is smart enough to say goodbye to them if they continue to shiteth the bed. I think he is and will be a good GM. He took LWilliams in the draft because it fell in his lap. Look at all the other players he is responsible for hiring: Skrine, Fitz, Maudlin, etc even Bullock isnt bad. Mevi$, Cro and DSmith are iffy decisions right now. Overall, he improved the team.

Mac doesnt control how the CS does. Today we face a NYG team that many talking heads say the Jets can beat. Gut says our D will give Eli a long day and their D is last so even Fitz should not find this game that difficult

Dont throw the team to the Lions yet Christian

Just when I was ready to write you off as a troll you come up with a well reasoned argument covering your position. :) I've got three things to say in counter:

    1. We had key injuries going into every important loss. I'd say injuries cost us approx two winnable games.

    2. Our HC is a rookie. He has made a few poor in game decisions and he has stuck with underperforming vets too long. He cost us approx one winnable game but I think he has earned some slack.

    3. Our ST is a dumpster fire. I've got no earthly explanation for that though.

Except for the injured Nick Folk.

The field goal he hit against the Patsies was clutch.

You can debate all you want. If starting a thread about how much this team has improved makes it a shitty topic, then I submit you're one of the shittiest fans ever to claim allegiance to the New York Jets. You just can't stand that some fans are actually enjoying 2015 since you're so damn miserable that we're not 11-0. If you could get your head out of your doom and gloom asshole, you might have recognized how often Rex fans and Geno fans are pissed that this team isn't 0-11. They tried to derail every game thread until that ended. Now at least they keep their whining to themselves for the most part and actually add something to the board. Most of them anyway.

Like I said, be fckn miserable until the Jets win the SB. Stay pissed that the Jets aren't legitmate 2015 SB contenders. Become the second coming of Champ if that gets you off. Where I get "pissed" is when people like you shit on everything this team does no matter what. Its never gonna be good enough for you. You'd find something to bitch about no matter if the team went 16-0.

I hope for your sake you're not as miserable a person in real life as you are around here. As are as my topics are concerned, you're not paid to participate so feel free not to. If you're gonna troll, that's a different conversation altogether.

To use your analogy... Didn't you have to teach your child how to achieve? Did you expect them to compete with 5th graders at the age of one? If you want them to "live up" to their abilities, wouldn't you give them the time to do that? After 6 years of lousy offense, no adjusting and awful drafts, you get a entirely new FO/CS and expect miracles? Really? One draft and you're expecting a SB contender? A HC whose has coached exactly 11 games and you want the second coming of Parcells/Landry/Belichek and Lombardi all rolled into one guy? A GM cleaning up a mess and you want the perfect 53man roster after a single draft? Puhleeese..

If you're looking for a year one miracle, sorry bud, but it ain't happening. If that means you're gonna be miserable until 2016 and beyond, I feel for you. Since the Jets haven't won in the last 47years, that does not bode well for you. Try to find something positive and focus on that. You might live longer in the process.

My comment wasn't in regards to this season alone . What I'm saying is that I get frustrated with the underachieving on a consistent basis .
I don't expect miracles from this regime in a year, and I'm happy with Mac at the helm and hoping Bowles grows into the job as HC . I've actually got more hope for the future then I can remember having in a long time .
All I want is consistency in the positive sense .

Whew! Thought for a moment Champ was posting under a different user name. Hell, you can't find one person on this board happy with the recent history of this team. However, without hope what do you have to look forward to? This team will get better. Sometimes you have to take that leap of faith. I mean, over the last 47 years who hasn't?? Give this new CS/FO time to get shit right. This is year ONE.

You're preaching to the choir my friend . Like I said, I'm happier then I've been in a long time with the people at the helm of this organization.
The jury is still out on Bowles as far as I'm concerned . He's done a few boneheaded things the past few games but again, it's a young HC learning on the job .
I think we are trending upwards and just having that feeling alone is a nice change of pace .

Wasn't Bowles signed the day after Mac was hired?

If you expected Todd Bowles to walk in and turn the Jets into a Super Bowl contender right out of the gate, then that might explain your disappointment.

Bowles is for all intents and purposes a 1st time head coach, and while some of his on-field decisions have made people scratch their heads, his handling of the players and the media have been exemplary.

Maccagnan has nothing to apologize for.

For me though, if I am mad that means I still have hope for the season. If we lose to the Giants and maybe one more team, I will probably not care/root for the draft pick because the season is virtually done anyway.
