with the spotlight squarely on fitz.... I think Chris ivory deserves to be called out. He has definitely lost a step.... Hell, he's lost a whole stride. And I wouldn't put his lack of production squarely in the O-line. He needs to 'fire it up' again. Gailey keeps running him on 1st down for 1 yard.... Every team expects the run on 1st now.... And they all effectively stop it, leaving fitz with 2 downs to convert.

We need a healthy power back to knock some people on their ass on 1st down. And set the mood and tempo.

He's been playing injured for a month and a half, because he gets injured easily. When he's healthy, he's a beast. And then the first 3 games of the season are over.

No need to call him out for something we already knew.

if we didn't run off right tackle every first down maybe we would catch a defense off guard and actually get into some 2nd and 2/ 2nd and 1 situations

Regardless. Starting an ineffective and injured back is a great way to lose games. I sympathize with his injury... But he should be benched... And allowed to heal so we can execute more effectively and actually win some games as we push for the playoffs... Then he can get back in there when he's healthy

And with that same reasoning.... Fitz is wearing a damn glove after hand surgery... ESPN.com and the pundits aren't excusing his play..... I respect any man suiting up. I'm not 'calling him out' per se... But it is what it is... We need to pound the Rock and get a change of attitude and pace on the 1st down handoff

He gets benched after the first series of every game, when they realize he lied to them about feeling healthy. Then he sprinkles in a handful of ineffective runs where he shows no burst or power throughout the game.

New Orleans wasn't dumb in trading him away, they saw it happen for a few years and gave up.

This should be his last year here unless he asks for way less than his worth. It's always dumb to give running backs second contracts, especially ones who are in their late prime and get hurt in every game. I'll be disappointed if we hitch money onto a guy who spends so much time on the shelf and isn't a game breaker at a position where you can easily find young starters in the 3rd and 4th rounds.

The real question is does Ivory go off tomorrow? Do I start him on my fantasy team?

He'll probably get knocked out of the game in the second quarter by Suh who most likely wants payback after getting highlighted by him in the first game.

yeah I think we all should understand what ivory is. he is a rb who can work in a committee but has no business being an every down back. problem is our cs doesn't realize it and we don't have much of a committee for him to be a part of.

Agree, especially since the "committee" has also been hurt and ineffective as well. Powell missed 4 weeks, Ridley wasn't activated until Buffalo (and hasn't done jack) and Stacy lost for the year after Buffalo. Shit, look at these stats :

    Powell - 6 games - 42 carries for 151 yards, 20 receptions for 156 yards. = 0 TDs
    Stacy - 8 games - 31 carries for 89 yards , 9 receptions for 65 yards. = 1 TD
    Ridley - 2 games - 7 carries for -1 yards, 1 reception for -5 yards.

We ran all over Miami last time, so maybe with Powell looking better last week and a healthier (?) Ivory, the running game gets back on track.......

Good thing RB "wasn't a need" at draft time.

At some point I'd love to draft a real dynamic playmaking RB.

A guy that is not a straight ahead down hill no cut runner. A guy who can hit a joke, make a cut and get into the secondary and who is a threat to score any time he touches the ball.

I am so tired of watching all of our RBs with their 3 yards and a cloud of rubber pellets.

Fitz has 166YDS on 38 carries with 2 TD - FML….. we reached in the the heap of patriot rejects and scooped up the leftovers at RB this year… i miss curtis martin - hell… i miss thomas jones

    fuck all y'all.

Ivory's a beast, an EASY choice to bring back next year, just a matter of price.

I really think predictability in play calling as well as O-line injury and coaches better preparing for him has hampered him.

His skill is never in doubt though, he's an exceptional power back thats great after contact. He's even vastly improved as a receiver to be honest.

Doesn't mean we shouldn't get ANOTHER RB, but Ivory is a must retain to me. He's a proven commodity, thats a valuable thing at RB.

Should have drafted Eddie Lacey instead of Geno in the 2nd round in 2013

But yeah, Ivory can be frustrating to watch. But do you really think Powell or Ridley should start instead?

True, mixing and matching with a change of pace back would make him more effective.

Powell, Stacy, Ridley are not those guys.

It's amazing how many important positions we as Jets fans can say "we haven't had that [player] since [a really long time ago].

QB. TE. Pass rushing OLB. Play making RB. Play making WR. Punt/kick returner.

But we've had great defensive tackles.
