My biggest problem with Bowles thus far is the same problem I had with Rex and the overload blitz schemes. They're great when they work but you can't be completely married to them.

I don't understand the whole 8 guys that are in the box all 8 are on the line. Sure you might get a free rusher here or there but as a whole we can't run the same damn package out there on every 3rd and 6+. Teams understand that they need to throw hot and we don't have 09 Revis, prime Charles Woodson and Deion Sanders covering the receivers.

Our secondary is good enough to compliment a blitzing front, but it needs to be done correctly. They see the 8 men up and know six are coming so they check to crossing patterns and bang they hit the slant for 12. Big surprise.

We need to see this change. NFL coaches are too smart to get beat by this week in and week out, and even the worst quarterbacks in the league know they need to get a quick hitter over the middle. It worked against a team like the Colts that throw the ball down the field, and the Browns that turned the ball over like crazy. Now that teams have 10 weeks of game tape we need to adjust.

If he doesn't adjust I'll want to see him go. I think he's smart enough to make it work. It's just puzzling because I never really saw Arizona do this all too often. They blitzed but not in such an obvious way.

This team is in for a rough couple years of rebuilding. We've been routinely swinging and missing on offensive lineman in the mid rounds and ignoring truly fixing the problem outside of the mid rounds. Every single one of our linebackers not named David Harris suck. The linebacker play is driving me fucking crazy.

Why is anyone even talking about another head coach at this point? I swear, when I see this kind of stuff I think the person posting is 16 years old. Bowles is not going anywhere. Nor should he. So called experts were picking the Jets to win 5 games this year. They have already done that. Now he is experiencing hiccups which are normal for any new coach. Teams tdo not flip coaches after one year, unless the coach plays basketball with his players.

I agree that blitzing cannot be the bulwark of your defense. But we supposedly have a dominant D line---that should complement any other scheme we plan to employ quite well. They have not really pressured the pass when called upon to do so, however. And our linebackers suck. So that over the middle easy completion is there any time some jack-shit QB wants it.

While I get the frustration, firing Bowles for an "offensive minded" head coach isn't the answer. That's the opposite of what this organization needs. The Jets needs stability. Stability allows you to put in a system. The system allows the FO to find players whose talents match the scheme. Over time, the system provides the organization with an identity. And knowing your identity -- who you are -- is fundamental to knowing how your organization can win.

At this point, succession planning for Gailey has to be key. If I were Mac, I'd talk to the CS and see if they wanted to bring in someone else to augment their current pool of candidates, particularly Pep Hamilton.
