Good post. I would also add a reference to TE not being a position the Jets could use to make opponents pay for going all out to stop the running game. But yes, the Jets seem to have no answer, and Smith so far not contributing is part of why they have no answer.

I get that his play has been a big part of the problem but rookie WR's can really suck year one and be good once they get their feet on the ground. I still have no really good feel for where Smith is going to wind up on the talent curve at this point. By now I knew Stephen Hill was a total disaster.

Never a big fan of the pick. I think he will be ok in the long run. He should have a good season next year.

After his injuries and what not he is still behind. However, he is raw and was a reach. I would have rather had Kevin White at 6 or DGB in the 2nd over Smith, both would have been much better picks.

Last night the Cardinals rookie 5th round pick JJ Nelson had 4 catches for 142 yards and a TD. Just sayin.

We were posting about it during the game.

It appears that this kid out of UAB can not only run routes, but if you throw him a perfect bomb whist he's completely open, he'll do the one thing WRs have been doing since the 7th grade.

    He'll catch it.

Another hi draft choice that will be gone in no time flat. Blame Gaily for the NO TE cause he does not believe in them

Gailey is entitled to prefer minimizing the use of TE's in what he wants to do. But that is a parlor game. In the real world of the NFL, not having a decent TE hampers your ability to match up to what opponents may try to do to you. Imo that is really hurting the team right now.

Shouldn't he at least be able to do his 1 trick?

He can go vertical and gain separation there, but other than that - can't really list any of his strengths. When he was drafted, I didn't like the pick, but I tried to force myself enjoy the selection we made.

Could Carson Palmer have thrown the bomb that Devin Smith dropped any better than Fitz did?

Nope. Fitz isnt the best long ball thrower, but that wasn't an issue yesterday.

Not willing to give up on him yet. But I wish he'd catch the ball THEN worry about being hit.

this. since leon, we have not had that guy who can go the distance from anywhere ob the field. instant offense threat. that would do wonders for this team
