You look at this roster and of course it would be a disappointing season without a playoff appearance so not really a huge story here. Making the playoffs and competing for a SB are 2 different animals.
This is a good post, but I don't think most of the board gets Champ. His point (I think) is that when the Pats can turn their franchise around and always win, , the Giants can pull 2 SBs out of their ass, the Steelers are always good, etc, the fact that he Jets haven't won a SB in 46 years is a disgrace, and our periodic episodes of moderate success that always fall short should be totally unacceptable. That, and I think he's fuckin' with us.
Champ should be forced to root for the Cardinals or the Lions. Among other things he should be forced.
ahh,... I saw this on the home page was the most recent post. went into the jets forum and it wasn't there. I had almost forgotten champ existed as I have had him on ignore for the past few years. hey champ. you still suck?
Champ, if your doctor only gives you 6 months to live, tell him you can't pay his bill. Maybe he'll give you another 6 months and you'll get to see your Jets win it all!
No roster is perfect. This roster when healthy can certainly make and win a Superbowl. We got w/in a game of the SB twice with "at best" similar talent and, if you tell it, a buffoon for a coach. Side note who the coach elects to start is a reflection on the coach's judgment, or lack thereof, not the quality of the roster.
I respect your opinion a lot, but have to respectfully disagree. Whereas you're right that no roster is perfect, this roster is far from being a SB contender, and it's not just a matter of the roster. You seem to be forgetting that we have a rookie HC, new systems offensively and defensively, and our STs suck balls. I also disagree with your last sentence. Yes, the coach's judgment, or lack thereof, is a factor, but if there is no one on the roster any better at a position than the guy that's starting there, what's the HC supposed to do? The talent on the roster is a bigger determining factor than the coach's judgment in most cases imo.
Marcus Williams is so obviously better than Cromartie in coverage. Neither one can tackle, but strictly coverage - Williams is a far better option.
Yeah. He migrated out there a few years ago (or maybe more than a few years ago, I lost my concept of time a while back), I guess he figured life was too short to go through it as a Jets fan.
I tend to agree, but don't think that Bowles is blind, stupid or wishes to lose. There has to be some reason why he's sticking with Cro, that we just aren't seeing. Maybe Williams gets beat in practice like a drum, and is one of those players who don't practice well, but play better in games.
