Would you ever bet money against a team you root for, if you felt it was a SURE thing?

    No. Never.

Having said that, I don't gamble on sports anymore but when I did back in my yute, I never bet against my team.

And I only do one fantasy team every year--I actually don't enjoy it--but my rule is I never draft Patriot players because--fuck them--and I don't draft any Jet players because I never want to have to root for Decker to get catches over Marshall or for Ivory to get a carry from the 2 instead of Fitz throwing a strike to Decker.

Never gamble on something you have an emotional investment in.

no, I no longer gamble for 2 reasons, firstly its not as easy as it was back in the 80s when you could take the niners and the over and win every fucking week.

and more importantly I like to watch football because I love the game, I don't need some extra bullshit to get me to enjoy it. when I bet I am concerned with my bets and lose a portion of the reason I watch the game. for the game. im honestly not a big fan of football fans.

I stopped betting in college for that exact reason.

I love football for football and all I cared about when I was betting was covering the spread. Instead of enjoying a game I was bitching and moaning about going for a TD over a FG or how shitty some defense was because they gave up X number of points.

I used to all the time. Don't bet much anymore though. The worst is when you lose the bet(if betting on spreads) and your team loses so it's a lose/lose. That always sucks. Most players are losing players though so if thats you' then don't bet against the team you root for since you'll lose/lose a lot. If you're a winning player then it doesn't matter, just make the best bet.

And for much the same reason I hate fantasy football.

I'm in one league now--I hate it but I felt compelled to do it because it was a celebrity/charity thing.

The other night I'm watching Tennessee and rather than root for Mariota I'm screaming for Dexter Fuckin McCluster to score TDs and when he went down with an injury I felt almost as devastated as when my Grammy died.

I'm done with fantasy. It sucks.
