So you would prefer not to answer the question?

If Petty were forced to start this season, do you think he'd win 8 games? A simple yes or no would suffice.

Well we are seeing a few young QB's like Carr and Bridgewater have some success which somewhat proves you do not need a top ten pick to get your guy.....

I do think the geno smith experiment will be done after this year - at least as a starter - the jets could draft another rookie QB next year and let fitz keep the job until petty and another young QB prove they have it or they don't.

I still wouldn't totally rule out getting an established QB that has worn out their welcome.

No probably not but Geno in his 3rd season wouldn't win 8 games

True enough but you sound like your willing to place all your eggs in that basket? I for one would not stop drafting QB's until I saw other wise. Then if we had multiple talented pieces there ;;trade one and move on

exactly what do you base this conclusion on? and don't say "geno's the worst qb ever" or some stupid vague shit. i want to hear precisely what makes you think petty would do better than geno did year 1. get technical please

    And that's the problem.

ppl are protecting Petty from getting destroyed his rookie season, keeping him safely on the bench. "If Petty starts, he's not ready, and he'll get KILLED". Well guess what. That's exactly what we did to Geno and now somehow his sketchy play is HIS fault, not Rex's for throwing him out there day 1.

Back to Macc's presser. The Jets camp is so shut down, no leaks, it's impossible to tell how the Macc/Bowles relationship is going. I assume just fine because it's so early, but really don't know. We have a thread on TGG about how Bowles sucks with his roster choices and such. How Macc feels about it we can't know. Where's Mehta's moles?

and you do not think this team is better then last years? You do not believe the draft was good and FO decisions in FA were good? Your opinion is nothing more then the SOJ mantra BS that the NY media plays....different man different time.

It's year 3. When Geno ran out of bounds twice instead of throwing the ball away it told us he was either not mentally prepared to play that day or doesn't understand what needs to be done in real time to preserve the chance to win what was a very winnable football game.

The problem is that Geno was a victim of circumstances. His HC didn't know what Qb development was so he ruined yet another Qb by playing him too early. Yeah, Geno should thank Rex & MM for this entire situation. This time, we have a FO/CS team in place that has a clue as to what to do with a rookie Qb that isn't named Luck. This is year 3 and Geno's options are few and none. A lot of this he brought on himself with his play and his decision making both on and off the field. That this FO doesn't seem to trust or have much faith in him should surprise no one. There's a reason why Geno fell as far as he did. Most teams needing a Qb passed but Idzik, with his acute talent evaluation skills, took Geno. So far, its just not a real good report card. Geno had shit talent but by the time decent talent arrived, it may well be too late for Geno here. The handwriting is on the wall for Geno. Time to move on.

Life ain't fair. Somehow, I don't think it was ever meant to be that way.

And he called a writer a "dickhead" the other day. Just does not get it when it comes to doing the job of a starting QB. Lucky the reporter did not deck him

    http://nypost.com/2015/11/13/geno-curses-post-reporter-as-qb-his-puncher-ignore-questions/

I don't really blame him to be honest. You ask these type of dumb questions you deserve to be punched in the face at some point. They asked him before the game about IK, Rex, and whatnot, he answered those questions. Then they went on, how he should be pissed or how it should bother him because IK punched him in the face. What kind of journalism is that? You're just being a twat there. But he didn't say a bad thing. After the game they kept peppering him with IK questions and then he finally snapped. The uncivilized person in me agrees with that. Problem is, he's trying to be the starting QB of a NY football team. You can't do that. Doesn't matter if you're right, you can't do that. You have to deal with this shit, move on to the next question, don't comment, whatever. Look at how much shit Eli has eaten. The only reason he's still around is because he doesn't care, he just rolls with the punches. The media mocks him after every loss, he doesn't care, he's got thick skin. Geno is immature, he's not a leader, he can't deal with what comes with being a starting QB (in NY). Maybe Cleveland. But if you don't have really thick skin here you won't make it longer than a couple of seasons, no matter how talented you are.

i'm with you on this one, title should read "geno clls reporter dickhead for acting like a dickhead" but alas, the reporters get to act with impunity while the athletes get badgered. geno should know better. i also just saw where bowles stood up for him saying" maybe it wasn't genos fault". good for bowles on that one
