I'd take that in a heartbeat. Those stats get us in the playoffs with the defense we have, provided the WRs stop fumbling and dropping passes. Fitz obviously isn't the QB of the future, but if there aren't any better options available, we should definitely bring him back. He's the best QB we've had on the roster since 08. Not that it's a huge accomplishment, but it's way better than the dogshit we are used to.
That would arguably be the best single season performance in franchise history. Someone will complain.
Tells you that Fitz is worth bringing back as a low cost veteran backup (like he was this year) capable of transitioning smoothly into the starters role if needed. He needs to be brought back to be a veteran backup to a viable starter, unlike the situation he was brought into this year. Fitz is arguably the best UFA to be on the market, but several others may be available due to cap hit implications (Brees, Kaep, Stafford, etc) Real Starter/Fitz/Develop Petty
And he can get that as a low cost veteran backup. A better opportunity for him would be to be a low cost veteran backup to Manziel
These are similar numbers as he had in 2011 in Buffalo, just a few more TD's and less INT's. What I would expect from a more seasoned QB.
he threw the ball 60 yards two games ago he can throw it deep... its his accuracy with the deep ball that is an issue.
AAAAAAAAAAA he didn't lose those games the team did.... D look poor the last 4 so... and running till last game was piss poor also.
Its the fact that he didn't have a full training camp/off season with the receivers to get on the same page.
Not that its a bad thing, mind you. The Bills threw Fitz a ridiculous contract off of those numbers. Something I hope the Jets dont recreate.
Agree with you on that. Fitz was a career backup that the Bills decided to throw starter money at, then bailed after only 1 year and paying him $6million. He could be signed for the same 3million he's making this year for two, possibly three more years. Right now I can't think of a team that would sign him as a starter. The notion that some people around here think that he could command $10million/year for 1 or 2 years baffles me
2 or 3 mill a year for two years and tickets/paid vacation at Disney for the whole family courtesy of Woody As added incentive the Fitzpatrics get bumped to the front of that insanely long line for the ride where everyone sings "its a small world after all"
McCown's already got dibs there, though thats the exact type of arrangement I'm talking about for Fitz.
Petty is not starting next year, unless there are injuries. I say keep Fitz, let Petty learn from watching, and ease him in to some regular season playing time.
