They are not an elite team yet, the difference in this team is the coaching staff, if they had a good coaching staff the team could take the next step. Jack Capuano is an AHL coach in his best year, until they get a quantified HC this team will never get to the next level. JMO
Menace I agree with this but did not expect them to be manhandled last night,,,I was out and missed the first 2 periods but the 3 rd period was ugly,,,,,,,coaching and getting someone to help 91 is a must .
Nice win last nite over a very hot San Jose team,,,,,,,,keep it up guys ! I am hoping this team can get on a mini run and pull off a trade because as time has shown they desperately need someone to play alongside Tavares ,,,,,,I will be happy when this happens because we cannot think about the next step or competing against the better teams come playoff tie until this becomes a reality.enjoying the ride,,,,,,for now
They have held on too long to Josh Bailey, he is a 6year vet who has not lived up to his potential, yet they got rid of Nino nederaitter, who ends developing into a dangerous offensive player after one season. After Capuano could not find a spot for him. That is on Capuano, he is trying to fit square pegs into round holes. I don't think any good offensive player want to come to the island right now, I'm glad we have the young players that have developed, but I still feel we have enough skilled players, they are just not being used properly by Cap.
I thought when the Islanders moved to Brooklyn they would get a major radio outlet in New York. But I just saw a late announcement on their radio network. And they're at a small NYC outlet plus Hofstra and a few Suffolk stations. Chris King is still doing the games but they hired a non Hofstra student as his color man. http://islanders.nhl.com/club/news.htm?id=781650
how did they end up dealing with the issues they had with the stadium and it being too small to put hockey in?
Bump,,,,,keep debating with a buddy of mine , I desperately STILL want them to get someone to play with #91 he still sticks by they got the guys but they need to develop,,,,I ain't buying that I ve seen this picture before ! I know we have some young talent but can we please get a real body to play along side J T ?
Ironically the guy who complemented him well was Matt Moulson, he was traded for Vanek. They need a big, fast, skilled player like Vanek, but those guys are hard to come by. I think Brock Nelson is the guy but he is not physically there yet, and Capuano will not brake up the young gun line of Strome, Lee, and Nelson.
Woah, what is the news with Hamonic? I don't quite get it. http://www.lighthousehockey.com/2015/11/19/9761084/travis-hamonic-trade-request-ny-islanders-media
They can't just trade him anywhere. He wants to go to the west coast closer to his family. Should be really difficult to get done especially midseason.
Family issues is the reason, it sucks but I don't think it's going to happen. As much as I respect the kid, it's a business and Snow better not take peanuts just to make him happy. Edmonton is at the top of the list as a trade partner, they have some good young players they can afford to part with.
I know I was just giving you an opposing fans view of his value, it would take more than Boyle to get him
