No, Breno is not up to that. I expect Watt will have to be doubled depending on the play.

Last night Watt was moved all around the line, he rushed up the middle and on either end. I don't think we have anyone who can block him 1 on 1 so he will have to be doubled all game. Having seen them move him so much last night I suspect they'll try to pick on Winters even and use a stunt to get Watt inside on him for a possible mismatch.

one good thing is Fitzpatrick gets the ball out quick. However, we don't know if he's going to play yet and when we played NE they got their hands up on Fitzpatrick and batted a lot of his passes down, I worry about that with Watt too

I see people setting themselves up to be disappointed thinking the Jets will win this game easy. Then if the Jets win by a TD or FG those people will be on here bitching about how the team sucks lol

No. A poster said he hoped Smith would not be the Qb at the game since he would be attending, and a Smith Fan responded with a reference to the last game of last season. THen no one mentioed it for a large number of posts until YOU recuscitated it at pos 93 on this thread.

The thread derailment proceeded from that point.

It really depends on the quality of the effort by the opponent. Like the game against the Jags. Imo the Jets did not play well and were lucky to win, and luckily Jville turned the ball over a few times enough so that the Jets won in spite of their weak effort.

But as it stands now even a clsoe win over the Texans will go down as a real one. They look a lot better than we thought they would a few weeks ago.

Typical. It's all about you and Smith. Not the Jets.

People tend to blame the Qb when that happens, and to be sure the Qb is partly responsible. But the OC needs to take this into account in calling plays. Think about passing lanes when figuring out where receivers can get the ball. Call plays that make the opponent pay for having guys just standing on the line with their hands up.

The way NE chooses to defend it is to grab the defender's jersey and hold like a MOFO. That's the strategy they used on Watt in the 2012 AFC Divisional playoff. That was Watt's breakout year and he knocked down so many passes they gave him the J.J. Swat nickname. But in that game every single time he couldn't get to Brady and tried to jump and swat the passes, the OLmen grabbed his jersey and held him down. It was unbelievable.

But to your point, yes and no. It depends on how the passes are getting knocked down. In some cases yeah, its the OC or even the OL fault for not opening a passing lane. But Fitzpatrick for example in the earlier NE game- - you can't blame that one on anyone but himself. There were passing lanes he just wasn't getting the ball over the failing hands

Fitzpatrick is a short QB with a long windup in an offense that features tons of short passes over the middle. It's a recipe for disaster against Watt. I'm not sure if you can remember our 2012 game against the Texans but it was decided in large part by 2 Watt tips, one of which led to a pick and the other took away a touchdown.

Then to your and Nagle's previous point, the OC can help by mixing in plays other than shorties over the middle.
