Are we talking tuition and books here or are some including room and board. My son would pay about $7000 a year for tuition and books at UCF if he took a full slate of classes, he decided to take it easy and only take 3 a semester so of course it is less. My daughter is transferring into USF next semester and it is about $7400 for tuition, fees and books. Unless you guys are talking out of state tuition because I know here it triples.
Have you heard the dumb shit college students say? The problem is two-fold. You're right about the government creating this with the loan practices, but that is merely the repercussion of the primary reason -- a generation of kids willing to go into debt so they can have the storybook college experience straight from high school rather than work, save and go later. Now they want to be saved from their own fantasy.
I've got no problem with it being free to attend a state university however if that's the case then not every c+ student should be able to go. If you are going to follow suit with Europe then you also need to ensure that only the best students are going to school. For all the other fuck ups there is trade school or the military. I know quite a few people who attended a trade school and are doing a hell of a lot better than me and I also know a few people in the military doing fairly well.
Eggzackly. And on top of that, if what you feel you want to major in is African American Feminism Studies as it Relates to the Use of the Grapefruit in Modern Society, well you are going to be on your own nickel for that nonsense.
