Devin Smith made a terrible decision. I can appreciate a guy who doesn't play much wanting to make a play so he gets more opportunities. But to take the ball out when he's running across the endzone was brutal. Then Zac Stacy breaks his ankle since Bowels pulled Smith.

Quigley had a good game, Bullock made his lone kick. But this game fell on the offense, completely.

Special teams are a dumpster fire, Quigs had a good night as opposed to every game when he sucks, poor coverage, poor returns, fumbles

The special teams play has been pretty bad this year. I don't know what the answer is.

You can make a pretty great argument that special teams cost us the game last night. Although, stuffing the punter almost made up for it...almost

So last night we had one KR break his ankle and another cough one up for a TD. We need to get someone who actually knows how to do this. That was really the whole game right there, if you choose to look at it that way. There were a myriad of other head scratching mistakes, and I thought Fitz threw for shit in the first half. But without the fumble, we may have won.

Sorry but the Jets offense had 2nd and 2 inside the 6 yard line and failed to deliver. Despite that awful turnover for a touchdown by Smith, the Jets still had a great opportunity to win this game.

Jets are at the point where they are throwing crap at the wall to see what sticks. I'm thinking Cromartie is back there returning kicks once he gets healthy until then I think mr. fumble is our kick returner by default.

Only other option is to try out one of the bottom of the roster secondary guys because Zac Stacy was never the answer to any question. If they bring anybody on board to replace Stacy that can't play special teams , well... You have got to wonder what kind of grudge the Jets management has against special teams.

sure they did. iI completely agree. I was just commenting on splay that never happens to us happening. Without it we win. With a few short completions in key spots, we leo win. We still had a chance. But we could have won this game playing badly

We definitely need to look into drafting or signing a stud at KR/PR. Not as valued these days with the new kickoff rules but if you don't have a specialist you can really shoot yourself in the foot on special teams like we have this year. Not that our ST problems are just not having a stud returner the whole unit is a mess.

exactly. Buffalo made a worse special teams play than we did, but they capitalized and we didn't. Man their team has so much speed at every position. It's sickening.

Maybe we should take a flier on Dri Archer for returns.

I thought the Elephant in the room was the pass rush.

Pretty sure there was a thread on it.

The Jets have their problems on Special Teams. But last night wasn't a ST issue as much as it was an individual player (Devin Smith) making a huge mistake.

In this era of football it makes no sense to pay a kick returner much money. I just want a sure handed guy back there.

  17. The Jets don't even need a stud KR/PR(Although one would be nice) just someone who can stay healthy, be reliable & occasionally break one. But right now that position is a complete disaster. They're better off sending anyone back there & taking a knee.Forget even trying to return the ball.
