And not for nothing , but the way this roster is constructed, we needed a veteran head coach. We don't have the players to go through the bumps of a rookie head coach.
I don't think I ever made a Rex thread til just now and the reason is I was thinking Jets fans (well the dumb ones) would think Rex beat Bowles, Rex is better than Bowles. Which couldn't be further from the truth.
Does Bowles have the mental capacity to be an NFL head coach? He sure as hell didn't show it tonight.
I did not even mention Todd Bowles in my post. I just stated I am happy Rex is gone. Wanted to point out that despite the Jets completely blowing the game tonight, that does not change my stance on Rex getting the boot. Only strengthened my thoughts.
And just to further that point, as much as I like Rex I was all for a change. But to hire another defensive coordinator to go through his struggles on a win now team was/is/will be, moronic. No matter how far we go this year my opinion won't change on that.
I'll take a Jets team that almost always comes out stronger in the second half. They've had a fighting chance in 3 of their 4 losses. Right down to the closing seconds they've been in the game. A little more time and they'll start getting the breaks.
Coming off a (4-12) season and having your starting QB knocked out in the Preseason is not exactly a "Win Now" Team. Bowles with the help of Fitzpatrick has been able to win now though. (5-4) with 7 games left. I agree. The future looks bright.
Spending 40 million usually makes you one. We might've overspent and not saved enough for future FA and extensions.
Almost looks like he's going through the motions. We very well might've went from one extreme to another. I don't mean a young holdout QB that has already proven to be an average at best backup. I mean either a rookie or a young guy with little experience. "His guy" for lack of a better term. Geno is not his guy. And I firmly believe if Geno started every game for us we would've already been out of the playoff picture. 5-4 might look great to some fans. But look at the game we lost. Direct reasons being either a poor gameplan , bad clock management or simply not having your players ready to go. As for the future, how do you know how bright it will be? We aren't exactly a young team. Our future QB isn't even on the roster most likely. And our head coach hasn't shown any improvement since Week 2.
Rex's punter gave us the ball on their 15 yard line and we couldn't score. When they had a 3rd down play to seal the game, they went right at Revis and ended the game. They went a whole quarter without getting a first down and they still won. Rex coached his ass off. He has an absolute nobody as his starting QB.
99.99% of TheGangGreen was thrilled to see Rex/Idzik fired. 99.98% of TGG couldn't type fast enough calling Rex a buffoon when he named Ik a team captain. 1% of TGG would take Rex Ryan back in a heart beat. OK, maybe %50 now.
