Yeah. Actually if I recall he should have been fired during his intro presser because he didn't proclaim a SB victory.
For me the draft is a lot like free agency. I get really excited about the guys we could potentially get. I put up mock drafts and get told by the TGG lynch mob that we can't draft Gurley because he is a running back or that I can't project trades because this isn't madden prior to the draft. Then as we make actual selections (instead of the guys I wanted) I want to fire everybody. Meanwhile everyone else falls in love with the guys we drafted (even if they never heard of them) and wants me dead for daring to criticize them. This makes for a lot of TGG drama during and after the draft each year.
This team has the worst - absolute WORST- fanbase in all of professional sports. No patience or critical thinking for the most part. Everybody thinks that only bad things happen to the Jets and no other team. Posters on this board constantly whine about how it sucks to be Jet fans (even though there are some NFL franchises that have yet to win a Super Bowl or even reach the championship game, at all). I'm really honestly embarrassed by what I see on the gameday thread week after week, with the constant whining and self-deprecation. I have no doubt that potential posters have likely been driven away from posting on this board for that very same reason. Frankly I don't blame them - who would want to associate with a bunch of losers who constantly complain? There's maybe a small handful of posters on here worth reading, the rest should all go on your ignore list.
This is spot on. There was a mass exodus of quality posters a few years ago and the trolls and darksiders took over. I stayed away for the most part. I've come back more often this season and it seems to have gotten better but have stayed out of the IGT for the most part.
It wasn't a mass exodus of quality posters. It was a few guys who were beating up on the crowd as an organized endeavor and who also took some quality posters with them when they were told to moderate their behavior or GTFO. We have a few people like that now but they don't appear to be organized they just look like assholes in action. If they are told to moderate or GTFO they will undoubtedly take a few fan boys with them.
Bradway, I'll just point out that you are one of the few posters I really enjoy reading on here. In fact, I pretty much open up any thread in which you've recently posted, if only to hear your input on the topic at hand. You're very knowledgeable and a great communicator.
I have to agree, that was a terrible time for this board and its been and will continue to be a much better board since they have been gone. even the few that were good posters while they are missed id rather not have them than to have the rest of that brood. a few months ago I went and looked up where they were today and it was the same old douchery that they have been doing since 2008. kind of amazing to see kids not grow up.
You'll always see that with diehard sports cities in general (NY, Chicago, Boston, etc.) but amongst NY sports teams, the Jets seem to have an unusually depressing and self-defeating fanbase. It's not even like the Jets are THAT bad. Sure, the team has made bad draft choices and organizational moves over the years, but which franchise has not? At the very least we usually have a stretch of a few good seasons before being bad again. Such as in the early 2000's, the Rex years, late 90's , etc. There are some teams out there - think Jax, Cleveland, etc. - who are continuously bad year after year. I'm sure any of those teams would have taken the 2009 and 2010 AFCCG runs any day of the week. Realistically, the Jets are a middle-of-the-pack franchise. They obviously aren't elite tier like GB, NE and the like, but they aren't complete cellar-dwellers either.
Take a look at this. http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap3000000502936/article/pain-rankings-no-2-the-new-york-jets
somebody will have to explain that to me one day thru PM or something. i didn't know anything was going on. one day i noticed a shit load of posters were gone tho, and no one said shit about it, like it was taboo. made the board better...as some of those guy were unreadable (was that intentional on their part?, or were there just an inordinate number of assholes here?)
they were unreadable as most of them were big babies who couldn't handle back and forth and folks not agreeing with them. they pretty much took over the place for awhile and did as they pleased. they ganged up on a lot of posters and made them feel completely unwanted. and they were brash and rude. I don't know all the details but if I remember later ill send what I recall in a pm. they moved on and I think both parties are happier now than they were when they were here.
or (as manic as this board is)… Week 19 - lose to pats - fire Bowles and McCag… mr johnson must sell team
