NFL Commisioner (and Jet troll) Pete Rozelle threatened to ban Namath from the NFL unless he sold his share of Bachelor's III bar/nightclub because of rumors that some bookies hung there. Kraft's DraftKings has not only been 'rumored' but flat out declared to represent wicked ILLEGAL GAMBLING by no less than the New York State Attorney General. Which begs the question: is Goodell going to step up to the plate and take action or is he going to sit on his hands least he again be accused of having it out for "The Patriot Way" by the whining NE ballwashers? C'mon Goodell, show some sack - a pair of 1st round picks and another 7-figure fineā¦at the very least.
1. Horse racing is not inhumane unless you define inhumane so broadly as to include things like owning a cat or a dog. Which happens more, a dog gets hit by a car because he slipped off the leash or a horse breaks down. It's inhumane to raise kids without stressing education. 2. You're right about that douche DA--he's on a one-man tyrannical mission against many things. 3. I've concluded FF is gambling since who is going to score a TD cannot be predicted in a single game. For example, the Saints were on the 1 2x last week and Ingram did not score. Also in the Giants game against NOR, Beckham got 2 TDS after the Giants couldn't punch it in from the 1 on running plays. Some weeks ago, Marshawn got 7 of 8 carries from the 3 to finally get a TD. What if the 1 time they didn't run him they completed a TD pass? Overall, there is a degree of skill but single games are gambles.
uhh you left out the part where the government regulates the gambling along with getting a slice of the pie. The Attorney General may or may not be an ass but when saying people aren't going to get duped under his watch he brings in a solid point. What is stopping these DFS from screwing people? nothing. Gambling in Vegas is extremely regulated to ensure its not dirty, slot machines in NY are regulated, the lottery? forget about it... essentially what Draft Kings is trying to do is operate a slot machine where everyone can play online but they build the slot machine however they want, they determine how the payouts work, the rules, who can play, what advantages they want to limit, etc. You don't see how that offers the potential for duping people? how that's a hell of a lot different than the other gambling activities you described? so you know- it stretches more than just wanting a piece of the pie
hmmm...I would expect now that NY has gone this route every other state in the nation will so enjoy it while you have it.
Investors in DFS If you want call Kraft as a scumbag because you believe these sites are run crookedly and he knows about it, great. He's got plenty of greedy company. http://www.fool.com/investing/gener...-scandal-youll-be-shocked-at-who-owns-fa.aspx Fox Sports reportedly replaced Disney in DraftKings' most recent funding round, which wasn't short on star power even without Mickey Mouse. Below is a list of some of the investors in DraftKings and FanDuel that you've probably heard of. DraftKings: Fox Sports, Major League Baseball, the National Hockey League, Major League Soccer, The Madison Square Garden Company and Legends, and The Kraft Group (owners of the New England Patriots). FanDuel: National Basketball Association, NBC Sports Ventures (Comcast), Comcast Ventures, Google Capital, Time Warner/Turner Sports, KKR, and "a number of NFL and NBA team owners."
Look I'm not against anyone that wants to gamble to gamble or to play daily FF to play daily FF. I JUST DON'T TO HEAR IT THOUSANDS OF TIMES A DAY. It's so bad I'd rather listen to or hear Flo commercials. _
why do you feel the need to defend Kraft here? like seriously. this is another attempt of many. for what reason? If you found a signed contract linking Woody Johnson to the company you think we'd give a shit here? hell- throw him out of the game for all I care. the deflate gate stuff i can sorta understand pats fans defending, but this is personal to Kraft and nothing to do with your favorite team. why would you care? so weird
I'm not defending him. In fact I made it clear in the first sentence. I'm just adding some facts and clarity to how widespread it is.
Literally after ESPN had the report go on air last night during 6 PM sportscenter, they cut to commercial and guess what ad came up JOIN FANDUEL! Use this code: XYZ and get $200 deposit bonus free JOIN NOW!
Of course I see how it has the potential for duping people, probably more so than something else. But anyone can be duped on anything. You buy a car off someone on Craigslist and next thing you know it's crapping out every other week. You got duped. I just think that is a lameass excuse. What does it matter how the payouts are determined? They give you the capability to see what they are preentry. You can see how many entries are entered before as well. There are definitely people out there who are screenshottimf every entry JUST to catch DK or fanduel in one of these scams. They can't be that stupid to change an entry mid entry. If the government was making a % off of DK or FanDuel I don't think they would be so fast to drop the hammer and ban it. I do agree with @JStokes though. The commercials and advertising needs to be cut down on. It has gotten to the point where I start bleeding from my ears everytime I hear it.
Michael Kay just spent the first 15 minutes of his show on this topic. He is absolutely on point with everything he said.
I was at work so it was hard to give a large synopsis. Basically.. 1) you're a moron if you don't think it's gambling. Everyone can agree with that.. I am an avid fanduel and DK player.. It is gambling. That's a fact. 2) the AG said it is a game of chance over skill..which is BS. It isn't one or the other. It's both. You can do all the research you want and pick the best lineup you can. there lies your skill part of the game. Next is chance, you chance your players getting hurt one snap in (example he used: Chris Ivory 1st play vs New England) 3) he believes sports gambling should be legal. I agree with him. Vegas has it.. Why can't it be regulated everywhere in the US? Regardless if it's regulated or not, people will find your offshore websites or illegal bookies 4) if the AG considers it chance over skill, which it clearly isn't since I just gave a perfect reason of how its both, why are scratchoffs legal? There is ZERO skill in that. Its simple.. The government gets a slice of the pie. That's what this boils down too. There is no way the government would make this illegal if they were raking in $ off of this brilliant idea. He didn't say this next part, but would it shock you if the government came out with some sort of regulated DFS website or app just to oust DK and fanduel and they don't just get a slice but rather the entire pie? Nope. Not me. 5) Kay then goes on to say how there will be people saying this DK or fanduel will put people with gambling problems into a deeper hole. Not true. These people with problems will have them regardless. They will find a way to bet no matter what. If they are so worried about people getting into more debt or trouble then stop the poor people from going to blow $30 on powerball. 6) the only problem with saying this is skill over chsnce is the argument for poker. That is more skill than luck/chance. What happens there? But NJ has allowed online poker so maybe NJ won't ban DFS. Who knows.
it is gambling, but NY allows gambling. They just pick and choose which gambling to allow. Lottery, horse racing (Belmont and Aqueduct among others), casinos (more and more are being built so the state can rip off its citizens with high takeout), the New York Stock Exchange... Anyway, two sites I play on (fantasydraft and draftday) just shut down to NY residents even though they didn't get a notice. They want to get out before they receive one, I suppose. As for the fantasy ads, I agree that they're stupid and the sites are wasting money to have them on as many times as they do. Have them a few times a day, not 20 times during a game.
