Cant believe Im reading this, he's young and learning. His play hasnt been bad at all. Id be happy for his rookie season to just play some snaps in every game and use it as a learning experience.
Leonard Williams has been awesome. He dominated the line of scrimmage in that Miami game in London. He hasn't had a ton of sacks, but thats not a good way to judge a player.
What source? His mom? Sheldon Richardson easily outplayed him in his rookie year. And you could argue that Mo was even better as a rookie. Leonard Williams is playing well, just as advertised. I think he'll be a perennial Pro Bowler down the road, but it's gonna take him a couple years.
Hey, it looks like we got value from a 1st round draft pick. Just be thankful, it's a rare occurrence with this team.
But that's not what people are saying here lol We all know he dominated in that game and looked excellent. The question is, where has he been lately? The past two games he has been non existent. And majority of people on here aren't judging him on sacks, but rather on his presence, which again, has been non existent
I'm going to let him play out the rest of his rookie year before I pass full judgement. I have wondered the same thing a few times throughout the season while watching this D front. Mo is having a Pro Bowl caliber season so far. Sheldon looks like he's rounding right back into good form. I have noticed Leonard Williams push the opposing O line quite a bit so he's doing good there. He's young and a ton of upside. It's not like he's having an invisible rookie year like a Gholston or someone. He's looked very good in a few games and solid in a few others so I have no issue with him at this point. We are not talking about a Gholston, Robertson, Coples type first round bust here.
If Coples is a bust then what is Leo Williams? Coples rookie season he had 5.5 sacks and over 30 tackles, it's unlikely Leo Williams comes near that. Mo, Sheldon, and Revis are the only ones who made an impact right away out of the draft. That's pretty pathetic honestly. This is what you get when you insist on drafting BPA all the time instead of on need like offense. The last thing we needed was another defensive end, hell I would've put Coples back on the line assuming the weight and strength came up in the off season, and see if he can get pressure on the QB and skipped the Williams pick.
Check out JJ Watt's rookie season and then come talk to me. Defensive Lineman RARELY have an immediate impact, much less a DT. CAn't look at just the stats. He is part of a great line, and filled in nicely while Sheldon was out infact, that in itself is good enough for me. He made Richardson expendable.
At 20 years old and before you constantly are at bars, it's much easier to maintain endurance for sports. at 28 years old, it's getting brutal
i have 0 concerns on williams. i think he has been the best player in our front 7 to be honest looking at the game son nfl rewind. im a ton more concerned about mo and shelly, who are getting killed in their 1 on 1 matchups. KILLED.
JJ Watt was a self made star, he came into the NFL with zero hype or expectation. Maybe it's me but I worry Williams might be miscast as a 3-4 end like John Abraham with Bill.
It's not all about sacks. the 1st 4 weeks he filled in for richardson, PFF had him ranked as the best rookie and as a top 5 d-lineman. He got a lot of QB pressures/hits and pushe dhis way into the backfield being disruptive
