Is anyone worried that he hasn't had a big breakout type of game yet?A lot of people said he was the best player in the draft ...What do you expect to see from the 6th overall pick in the draft for the second half of the season? Why does it always seem like we draft guys who never make an impact right away?I can't remeber the last guy we drafted that came in and played at a high level right away because you see it around the league all the time.He hasnt recorded a sack by himself so far this season he has two games with 0.5 sacks and had the other combined sack on Sunday and only 10 tackles so far.....thoughts????I had such high expectations for him
It's still early. But when I watch Jets games, I notice Muhammad Wilkerson and Sheldon Richardson. I don't notice Leonard Williams.
Feel the same way......that's why I made the thread its a subject worth talking about.I don't notice him out there and barely hear the announcers say his name, without going back and watching tape I don't know how many times he's even been on the field
the way i look at it is this he is 20 years old. i am 20 years old. i can barely play a full game of pick up basketball. he is playing professional football against the best and can't even legally drink. PFF still had him rated the highest 3-4 DE rookie ever through 7 weeks i'll give him all the time he needs man, he'll get it
You must be in horrible shape, this guy is a pro atlehte not some scrub who can't even play a pickup basketball game against other scrubs
U asked for a player i gave you one. Not many teams rely on rookies to be impact players. If you are consistently relying on rookies, you probably don't have a good team
I agree that he hasn't had as much of a breakout as I was hoping. Considering our strength at the position (well, at least now that Richardson is back) it does seem like we could have used that pick on another position of need instead and have been better off for it this season. That being said: you don't draft for the upcoming season, it's a long-term investment. I think Williams will be fine but I'm not expecting a pro-bowl season out of him.
That's completely ignoring that at least one source views him as the best ever 3-4 DE rookie ever. At least through 7 weeks.
His season reminds me quite a bit of Mo Wilkerson's rookie campaign - solid against the run and not much pass rush. Mo turned out pretty fucking good. You guys really need to relax with evaluating rookies - you can't really evaluate them until 3 years in the league. Got people screaming about Devin Smith being a bust already LOL
And for the most part rookies don't become stars right away. Sorry if you only remember the Gurleys and Amaris of the world. They're few and far between. Let's say every team has maybe one rookie every 5 years that has that type of impact - we had ours 2 years ago with Sheldon. Do you expect every rookie we draft to come in and be dominant after 8 games?
JJ Watt's first 8 games in the NFL....2 sacks, 25 tackles - so more tackles, but it's like he was setting the world on fire either. Just need some perspective and I'm trying to give it.
It's hard to rack up tackles with the talent around him. Difficult when Sheldon, Wilk, Harris and Harrison are all doing their thing. He gets a good amount of hurries though.
