I got this. Here is your battle plan bro. My ole lady was kinda like this. She still has not much to do with the game and gets more excited when someone cries on 'Sex and the City' over a Hail Mary touchdown on the last play! But she is cool with my football Sundays and even follows te Jets with/for me. Here's how I cracked the code-- 1) make it fun for her at first. I used to go to the bars and watch the games even though they were on the TV at the house. In their strange minds if you are out and about sitting, watching the game it's somehow different/better than sitting at home and watching. And don't go to the local legion where 5 alcys are watching the game, go to a place where there are lots of enthusiastic fans and people watch with her. 2) back stories- women love that bullshit. "Honey did you know that no. 14, the QB there went to Harvard? First guy ever to play QB from there and nobody wanted him because of that" "did you know no.87 the wide reciever is married to that country singer- Jesse James? They are all over the internet with their affection" It's gay as fuck but she'll become interested with that crap. Next time you watching the game she'll be like "hey there's that country singer guy you were talking about.." You'll be pissed cause Decker dropped a key 3rd down pass but you'll say "yeah that's him they were just on tv last week" 3) you mentioned you are the same with college ball. I don't have good news here bro. Something's got to give. You can't expect her to be okay with football all day Saturday AND Sunday. My suggestion would be to forgo the college games for awhile focus on te Jets and work the college games in with time with the same strategies. 4) make it clear that just because you want to watch the Jets on sundayss that that is not the only thing you are into. Take her apple pickin or some bullshit beforehand. A nice redbox chick Flick after the game, etc. With the above strategy she'll come around. My ole lady watches the Jets all the time with me now or let's me watch me with the guys every week and a few years ago she didn't know what the fuck football even was
WOW that must be rough (solely in terms of the football aspect). I don't see how I'd be able to be serious with a Pats/Islanders/Devils fan. Especially if they despise my teams and rub it in (not sure if your wife does this). I had a girl who was a pretty big Giants fan. Was pretty knowledgeable of the game. We watched football every Sunday in my dorm room. That was fun. My goal is to score me a Jets/Rangers fan next. Huge Mets fan too but I always feel like I'm surrounded by Yankee fans or girls who know nothing about baseball so I'm kinda giving up on that.
My ex was vehemently against any football watching on Sundays. It was "family day", meaning we spent the day with her not interested in sports family.
Byz, I feel a little let down by you, I thought you would be the John Wayne at home that you are on this board.
My wife of 20 years does not bother me at all on Sunday's, she asks me what time is the game in and goes shopping. Or she will read a book next to me, but that's because Saturday's is her day, what ever she wants to do we do, whatever restaurant she wants to go to we go to, it's my day to compromise for her so she knows I enjoy watching the jets and let's me be.
Doses and beers on Sunday's nothing wrong with that ! My Sunday is my only off day of the week with grad school, internship and work. So my gf knows Sunday's are big since the jets are on A quarter of a year, and every game is important. She comes from a family of giants fans which is the only downfall
My wife is ok with me watching football, however she doesn't like the sport at all. Where she is from football is played with a round ball.
No, she likes American football, she just hates the way the New England Patriots organization operates being a woman of character and integrity.
