No. The reason Hillary was brought up is that some people are incapable of defending a candidate or supporting that candidate without making an irrelevant reference to someone against whom that candidate is not running.
So is this a bogus thing then? https://books.google.com/books?id=e...ge&q="west point" tuition scholarship&f=false
Carson's book says the General came to his Memorial Day Parade with an entourage. The General wasn't even in the state of Michigan during this parade.
"I don't remember all the specific details. Because I had done so extraordinarily well you know I was told that someone like me - they could get a scholarship to West Point. But I made it clear I was going to pursue a career in medicine." "It was, you know, an informal 'with a record like yours we could easily get you a scholarship to West Point,'" he added. So he can't remember all the details, except that he was marching at the head of his parade and the General showed up with an entourage. Sounds pretty detailed to me.
It appears the USMA has "dumbed down" their recruiting materials, at least in some markets. Let me state that anyone personally familiar with the admissions process to the service academies would know that admissions are based on a process of "appointments", not "scholarships." It's not brain surgery.
It appears as if you were wrong. If you read Carsons explanation, he makes it clear that it wasn't necessarily even what the General said rather how he interpreted the discussion.
He may have made it clear to you, it's what you wanted to hear after all. I am putting experience with those in the process and experience listening to politicians far too long to buy his explanation.
I really don't think I want to hear anything outside of, generally I'm hoping to hear someone stand up and be a real good candidate. Carson is a guy I'm interested in learning more about, and I am, but I'm certainly not sold on him.
I think you are missing the second half of what an "appointment" includes. A full scholarship. My buddy went to West Point. He got an appointment and with it he got a full scholarship. Everything paid for by the US government. Never paid a cent. If that's not a scholarship, nothing is. _
Carson's ship is taking on a lot of water. What's next? "…why my grandpappy was 'undercover' in the KKK.." or "…next thing I know, we were taking on sniper fire.." Yet speaking of the 'Aesop Syndrome' it's interesting how the relative impacts play out involving pretty much the same ("sniper fire") bold-face lie. Brian Williams: Anchors away, NBC anchor boy. Miss Spoke: pass 'Go' ..collect 200 delegates.. 'Honorable' mention:
You must have missed the part where Politico was making shit up. I'm sure many will. Carson should sue for defamation.
Breaking: CNN Reports Ben Carson never returned borrowed pencil in 5th grade. Presidential campaign in spiraling out of control.
But Carson never mentions an appointment, in both his book and in interviews. He specifically states he was offered a full scholarship by a General who wasn't even in the state of Michigan when Carson recalls he had dinner with him. And from what I've read, Westmoreland was in no position to offer a full scholarship to anybody, let alone somebody he never had dinner with in the first place.
Scholarships at West Point are implied. Carson should know this. He should also know that the pyramids were not grain silos. And that the Jews still stood no chance even if they were armed against the Third Reich. This guy just proves that even somebody with a doctorate can be an idiot.
Except the giant proviso that the government owns your ass for at least eight years. Not what most people consider part of a scholarship. Colleges give out scholarships selectively, the service academies have the same terms for all.
I think his stance has been pretty consistent and pretty easy to interpret. This scholarship garbage and the 'history of violence' things are fairly petty things to judge/disparage a candidate for. It's my take as well. If those two items are the worst the left has to say about Carson then they are really reaching.
