No doubt he has the arm to play in New York. I'd give up at least a 1st for him if he was available probably more..they won't trade him tho.
Sorry, I don't buy all this cold weather stuff in New York City area. It didn't snow until mid January last year. It's not uncommon to have a 70 degree day in November and occasionally in December. By January the season is almost over unless you make the playoffs.
I've never seen the league full of so many journeyman underachieving QB's. Its like the 70's all over again. And I don't buy the fact that the dual system/plug and play philosophy, is completely to blame. Teams like Oregon and Baylor still need quality players in their systems.... The next era of the NFL will be offensive coordinators who simplify their playcalling for new athletes....
Oh, and don't forget the little detail of his salary. About $17 mill per year for the next two years and a $22 mill cap hit both years. He's a UFA in 2018
Stats are awesome. He's currently 34th in QBR (finished 33 last year) 2nd in INT's with 11 trailing only Andrew Luck at 12 (only 13 TD's) 20th in completion % (one of the worst last year) Most importantly... he's 36-51..... for comparison... Ryan Fitzpatrick 37-58... Mark Sanchez 41-35 He hasn't won, he's gone through multiple coaches, and he throws for a lot of yards because he has always had Calvin Johnson and they are always losing. Worth a look, yes. Worth a 1st rounder, no. Still not as bad as the idea of trading Sheldon and Kerley for Kaep.
I'm mind blown by how many people don't want Stafford. I said in the other thread I would no questions asked spend 2 1sts on him, and the fact that even one single person disagreed blows me away. Now I'm reading that some people wouldn't even spend a single mid 1st round pick? Are you fn kidding me? To all those people, what else would you propose we do? Trade even more picks for an unproven QB in the 1st round with no hype around him? Would you want to stick with Geno, and/or Fitz? Would you hope a good starter ends up hitting free agency? None of those things seem even close to the idea of trading for Stafford.
Lmao. Apparently you've never lived in NY. Last year was very unusual. Most years it snows several times a week all November and December. And yes, it is uncommon to have 70 degree days in November and December.
Agreed. I think it is crazy that people do not want to make a move for Stafford. Draft picks are so overrated in the NFL. We got Marshall for a 5th rounder!!!!! Who the hell knows what we can get with our pick if we went after Stafford. I just disagree with you on how much we should give up. I think 1 first and maybe a mid round pick. Not 2 1's
i hate referencing Wins and Losses as if it's somehow solely up to the QB. it's a team stat, not a QB stat. i made the same argument when people were trying to tell me Fitzpatrick was a terrible option by this same logic. Stafford is on a terrible team right now, and the season is spiraling out of control. they have terrible coaching......all will be fired at years end if not sooner. some dude named Jim Bob is somehow calling plays. they also play bad defense. this is not something Stafford can change, so i'd evaluate him more like a scout, than i would blame him for this season in Detroit. by that notion, i'd absolutely consider making a move so long as the cost wasn't too steep.
Getting Stafford: Try it...youll like it; or at least check it out. Just like with Cutler. See what they want for an exchange Especially if our Vet QB is done after this year Plus I have no idea how fast they want to move along Petty In this League when you look for QBs how choosey can you get?
2009 draft I said Sanchez was better than Stafford. A couple years later Sanchez had won 4 playoff games without Stafford sniffing the playoffs. Now in 2015 I still stand by that comment. Stafford has been a complete failure. He has always had offensive weapons, he just is not very good.
Stafford has been a complete "failure" throwing 144 TDs and 96 ints.....Sanchez isn't close to Stafford....If he was he wouldn't be a backup QB in Philly....If Stafford is available you bet they'll be many suitors Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
He's had a tough year but that's the only reason a 27 year old franchise QB is even hypothetically on the trade block. He's a gun slinger and would put up huge numbers with Marshall and Decker not to mention Smith waiting in the wings. He's basically Jay Cutler but not a douchebag. He's capable of a Joe Flacco type SB run and a first round pick when we're picking late teens or higher is more than worth it in my book.
I don't want ANY QB that projects to rack in $20-$30M/yr. Give me MoWilk, Sheldon, Leonard, Revis, Marshall, Decker, Pryor, et al. Win lose or draw, I want more than one jersey in the crowd.
You call draft picks 'overrated' then go on to point out Marshall was had for a 5th???? Draft picks are what makes and breaks an entire franchise. EVERY team needs 10-15 top players, all playing on rookie contracts for LESS than a single over-paid FA. See how Seattle is doing now that their rookie squad (and UDFAs) are cashing in. You want a dynasty? You BETTER have a Tom Brady under center -or- draft 2-3 top dogs EVERY SINGLE draft. Men who KICK ASS for pennies on the dollar.
Stafford has been going downhill for a while. Don't want any part of him. Give up firsts round picks? Ayfkm!!
