Not a leap at all. If Carson ever was a thug, there would be ONE person left around to verify that. 9 people remember him as a nice young man that listened to his mom. Not some hair trigger maniac that would just as soon bash you over the head as say hello. I'm 60 years old and if some of the people I knew to be thugs back when I was 14 tried to say that shit, I'd call them on it in a heartbeat. Folks from Detroit are a lot like New Yorkers in that respect as I've met quite a few and they're "for real". If no one remembers Carson the thug, its because Carson the thug never existed. He could put this to rest yanno. Just mention where we can find his "victims". I'm sure if someone bashed me over the head, I'd remember who did it and the reality is, if the person that bashed me were running for President, I'd sure as hell be on TV talking about getting bashed by that person too. Sorry man, this is all bullshit to get votes. The man is a fake.
You must have a hell of a memory to know everything about the people you knew when you were a kid. I remember some people and some things but I probably forgot more than I can remember. I'm sure I also didn't know a lot of things that happened with the people I knew too. Did the book actually say he was a thug? I think you're over reacting but I'm not saying you're wrong.
I don't know if carson would make a good president. i find him to have some very good qualities though. I like that he's been wrong on things and admitted it when he realized he was wrong. I like that he's humble, thoughtful and soft spoken. I like that he came from nothing and is now running for president. I like that he is not one of the shitty politicians fucking up our country for the last 20 years. I love that he doesn't feel the need to be politically correct.
Ben Carson doesn't feel the need to be politically correct because he is incorrect with just about everything he says. This guy doesn't admit to something he's said was wrong. He had a chance today about the pyramids and doubled down on it. He also lied about Mannatech. And he's the best the GOP has to offer outside of Donald Trump? Maybe I don't add anything of value because the GOP and "good guys with guns" has no value at all?
I can name 3 people from my old block doing life no parole right now. I know of several others that never made it off the streets. I wasn't a thug, but I sure as hell knew who and where they were. Believe me, in the hood you had better know and remember who the thugs were. Those things tend to stay with you. I remember how people were in HS too. I'm not sure why anybody would want to pretend to be a thug in the first place. Carson should be playing up how good a kid he really was and how that paid off. Anything for a vote....
I mean if he lied about his past it's funny and the pyramids thing is funny but I don't really care because at the end of the day all of them are liars and it's better to be wrong about pyramids than something that actually matters. I don't really like him as a candidate but let's put it in perspective. Trump is an absolute clown and Hillary can't open her mouth without lying about important things
If the guy is a liar I don't want to vote for him. I think the mannotech thing is bullshit though. I think the way the question was asked made it sound like he was a business partner of some sort. he said in his answer he did paid speeches for them and stuff. it's the type of thing that gets people who get there news via internet meme to buy in. I do think it's very important that our president doesn't think the pyramids were used as silos though. this is the type of thinking that could ruin our country.
I mean they are all liars though right? The guy who is really impressive and has the backbone to back what is right regardless of party is Rand Paul but he isn't glamorous enough to get elected. Most people are too stupid to realize how dangerous all of this NSA stuff is and Obama is getting all of the attention for the effort to reform prisons and drug laws but Paul has been backing that stuff for a while
I don't think they're ALL liars. I certainly wouldn't vote for someone I knew was. I'm with you on paul. I was pleasantly surprised he made the debate cut down to 8. his policy should mesh well with a state whose motto is live free or die. if he can keeo the campaign running long enough who knows
I prefer him as a senator wreaking havoc anyways. If he were elected they'd clip his nuts and he would probably be looked at as a failure. Just the other day he was at it again. And by "it " I mean protecting the constitution.
I am hardly an expert on his narrative. But from what I gather he is putting out there the notion that he had a Damascus experience and God came into his life and transformed him. He went from a thug to a brain surgeon. He is trying to put out there what is an appealing narrative, not only in general but partciularly to conservatives. They find it particularly appealing to think all that you need to get out of the hood and poverty is to be open to God. Now ftr I am religious myself and am not your typical left wing secular humanist. But there is much to criticize in Carson's story and how it goes down so easy with right wing voters. And putting religion aside, at least we have learned something given how Carson is so ill informed, and talk about low energy! The Ambien Candidate. What have we learned? Ben Carson shows us how brain surgery is not rocket science.
In my experience virtually everyone lies about something, some people having nothing to do with politics lie a great deal, in fact. When it comes to politics part of the problem comes in when you distinguish between elected officials as REPRESENTATIVES of the voters versus the notion that you "hire" smart capable people to do what they think is best. In straddling that distinction the candidates have to say what voters want to hear. Everybody knows this, no one really likes it, but there doesn't seem to be any better approach. In short everybody lies, and the political system's nature encourages a form of lying that is telling people what they want to hear. So, that being the case, what do you do? Throw up your hands? Cynicism can be very appealing, but part of its appeal is how it can and often does become an excuse to do nothing. I don't need to figure out which candidate is closer to the truth, for example, since they all lie. Might as well do nothing to inform myself about the political issues, and I can just stay in bed on election day, hiding under the covers. What difference does it make? Dont let cynicism become an excuse to do nothing.
BB, I'm wondering if the lack of impressive candidates for POTUS is a direct result of the scrutiny their lives will be put thru. Although I understand that the leader of our nation has to be thoroughly vetted but Carson evidently didn't get the memo. Neither did Hermie Cain. Once we find the hidden truths about these candidates, they try to discredit the folks that found the information. Cain was an womanizer and Carson is just a lying SOS. When will the GOP find a bonifide POTUS candidate of color that doesn't have a locker full of skeletons? Seems that they always find the least electable folks to be their standard bearer. I think the closest they've come was Colin Powell and I think they found he smoked a joint or some such capital offense.
Glad to see the left is in all out attack mode on Carson. You'll support and defend Hillary and Obama to the death, but a potential lie (completely unproven) by Carson about something that happened to him as a kid 50 years ago is abominable. Obama lies about his relationship with a domestic terrorist and it's wiped under the rug by the left. Obama lies to the american people about Obamacare. No big deal. Hillary lies directly to the American people about the deaths of their children. No big deal. I can't help but laugh at the incredible hypocrisy. I'm not surprised in the least though. Oh - let's not forget the pyramids. That's more important stuff. It's really terrific stuff, please keep it coming.
Get a real candidate to run for POTUS and stop trotting out these Steppin Fetchits trying to prove that the GOP is not really bigoted. Carson is a liar. Cain is a womanizer. Both simply didn't cover their tracks. Obama didn't use his relationship with that activist as a reason why he should be elected POTUS. Hillary isn't making an issue about her emails, the GOP is with that fake Benghazi probe which we all know is designed to derail Clinton's campaign. Cain was a womanizer. He ran a pizza corporation but the GOP thought that makes him qualified to be POTUS. Why? Carson is a liar period but he's using those lies to court favor with religious conservatives. I won't even bring up the shameless use of both men's skin color as a shield for those GOP'ers that can't come to grip with their own bigoted racial views. What makes Carson any more qualified to be POTUS than Cain? Not a f'n thing. Carson is the token that the GOP is trotting out once again. Considering the options for POTUS this upcoming election, I'd be open to going to a parliamentary form of gov't. Better yet, just put the country on autopilot and hope for the best. One day, someone who actually IS qualified to be POTUS will run for either party. I just hope by then it isn't too late.
Hillary LIED about Benghazi to help get Obama re-elected! You're calling Carson a liar is a stretch. You do not know what his childhood was like. The attacks are Carson's intelligence are laughable given his resume.
Webb would make a good VP. Not real sure if he would be ready for the big chair. He kinda reminds me of Bush41. Bullshit. Carson lied about his childhood. Unless he comes up with folks that can verify his story, I'm not gonna take his word for it. No way in hell NOBODY can verify Carson's story. Nobody is that naive enough to think that he was able to hide this from everybody for all these years. People that know you know your tendencies. Even if hiding his inner Mr. Hyde were possible, the obvious question becomes, WHAT ELSE IS HE HIDING? Can you trust Dr. Jeckyl with the launch codes? You're a fool if you do. Now if you're so desperate to believe a fairy tale like the one Carson's selling, knock yourself out.
