Bradway - Herm: 5 seasons ended in disaster at the end. Tannenbaum-Mangini: 3 seasons - maybe should have been 4 or 5 but there was a disaster year in the middle and the last year was a huge collapse. Tannenbaum-Rex: 4 seasons ended in disaster at the end (2012 was a disaster even at 6-10 - even some of the wins were hard to watch.) Idzik - Rex: 2 seasons ended in disaster with no good year to get the guys through a really bad one. The Steelers haven't won less than 6 games since 1988. They haven't had the disaster seasons that discredit a FO/CS and they haven't missed the playoffs more than 3 seasons running since 1988 either. The biggest factor that hurts the Jets continuity at this point is the bad luck at QB. Even the guys who have worked out like Ken O'Brien and Chad have gotten beat up and broken after just a few seasons. That's what fuels the disasters, alongside very questionable drafting and talent acquisition processes, particularly over the last fifteen years - although the Jets were legendarily bad drafters before that. Look at all the 30+ guys on the Jets right now and realize that they are most of our best players and half of them are here as 1 or 2 year rentals.
From Bradshaw to Big Ben (1982-2004), the Steelers had jack at QB. Malone, Brister, Kordell, O'Donnell, Maddox, yet through it all they had 2 HCs and stuck to their philosophy. We have never demonstrated an ability to do that, and it starts with ownership and fans. Maybe we get lucky drafting a special QB. I doubt it. In fact, I have serious doubts as to whether Russell Wilson wouldn't have been run out of here on a rail if Bradway would've gotten his way in the war room.
It starts with ownership. Woody realizes he's made terrible football decisions when the fan base tells him he has. There's nobody in the organization that has any true football acumen burned into them. He calls around for consultation experience then hires them under contract. They walk with their cash and zero accountability. It's a joke really. Just sayin.. Sent from my HTC6515LVW using Tapatalk
Choose your poison: Having Woody make the Personnel decision on the FO Leadership team OR, Woody contracting the job out to Football Personnel Guys that have actually made good personnel decisions.
So we are completely overrated, we should sign Ray Rice, and now we should trade the farm for a terrible QB in the draft which is 6 months away. Your threads are awesome.
Trading up fIor a QB is what kills franchises and gets GM'S fired. Doesn't matter if you take John Elway. If he had Rex Ryan as coach, we'd have never heard of him again. Macc's got the right idea, you build a team first and then worry about the best option under center. The Titans drafted Mariota then didn't bother putting an offensive line around him. He's already banged up.
