Familia was charged with three blown saves despite Royal batters going 3-18 with no walks, and ONE earned run allowed.

Nobody ever gave the Mets props for their defense. I think that was evident during this WS. The Cespedes rollercoaster is over. The guy showed nothing in the post season and you have to wonder if he's one of those guys that shy away from the big moment. Murphy is going to be a great DH for some team in the AL. Niese will get some team to pay the bucks for him and Colon will probably return for one more ride. Duda HAS TO WORK ON HIS HITTING PHILOSOPHY over the winter. He's got all the power you need, but just none of the plate discipline and skills to be consistent.

Middle relief? Blow it up! Starting with Clippard and Gomez. Time to rebuild there.

What to do with Wheeler? Might as well start him at 5 and see what we have.

Collins? Not sure. Firing him now would be a PR disaster unless you replaced him with a big name.

Well, its on to 2016 now. Kudos to the Royals. By beating us, they just may have helped us going forward.

I don't fire Terry. He got a lot out of this team. The Harvey situation last night: I would have left him in the game considering how Familia has been in and out. This team needs different offensive players. You can't win with a leadoff Hr and no hitting the rest of the game. They played into KC's hands and got beat.

Yeah Terry isnt going anywhere. Nor should he.

Im confident in this team going forward though. Hard not to be with the rotation we're going to see next year , hopefully everyone stays healthy.

I really soured on Murph and Cespedes too the last week. The team can do a lot with the potential $$ that both of those guys will command.

If they use it is another story.

I'm not soured on Murph he played great for a while. And he had 14 dingers during the regular season and 7 in the playoffs. He could be a veteran guy who just gets more power in his later years kind of like Davey Johnson was with the Braves. As for Cespedes I think they have a great excuse not to sign him. Not sure how much his injuries played into his lack of offense or if the Mets think he's not a team player. His value is down he's not getting the huge contract he was aiming for. I bet he re-signs with the Tigers. I could actually see the Mets again going after Zobrist a guy Sandy has always liked. He could be affordable which means under 20 mil per season. You know kind like a Grandy contract which I think the Mets would do.

I have that feeling as well. As bummed at the Wilpons must be to not win the World Series , the entire fan base is pretty down on the guys that got the team this far.

Whether Cespedes was just too injured to be a factor or just had a bad slump at the worst time is anybody's guess. None of us will ever know for sure. But where Im at right now , if the team can go get 2 players with the 20-25 mil per year that he's gonna command then I'll be happy about that.

I think that the team will spend this offseason. They just wont go crazy with the years like they would have to by resigning Cespedes.

I feel surprisingly good today. After the game I tucked my kids to bed and laid down with each, which is an automatic injection of perspective and importance.

Great, fun ride. Should have won. In fact, it makes it more tolerable. We are every bit as good as the team that gets the title. I feel good about the team we got to watch this year and what it can be next year.

The comparison to the 2000 series is uncanny, and we rebooted that team significantly, which it looks like we will have to do to this team as well, so hopefully it turns out better this time.

Well, I went to the game last night and Mcfaddens was like a morgue. I got there just as the Giants game was ending so any Giants fans had nothing to cheer about by the end. I'd honestly say about 75% of the fans in there were Jets fans and they had nothing to cheer about the entire game, compounded with the fact that the Mets had a brutal loss and facing elimination the night the before, it was almost eerie in there. Everything seemed very placid and ominous.

Still had a great time and when we got into the stadium the crowd was pretty electric. Terribly disappointing way to end, but if you go through all the "what-if's" of this series, you'll be here til next spring.

I was one of the few who thought Harvey should've been lifted, because he was over 100 pitches, and he'd been getting pulled even earlier than that. He showed signs of weakening in the 7th and the 8th didn't change my mind. I felt the only way he should've started the 9th would've been if he had kept his pitch count down (to say 95 or below).

It didn't make sense to me to push it, given that he

But either way, I thought the Mets would blow it.

Only game they won was the game I was unable to watch live.

Three times I watched them have a late lead and blow it.

I got to watch some of that one but couldn't finish it. Stared work at 11 AM that day so was out of the house in the 7th.

I think the question is: what's the payroll going to be next season. I'm not for signing players to crazy megadeals: I think the Royals showed you can build a very good team without superstars. Just guys who are real good baseball players. But they have to do something. Last year at the Winter Meetings they made no deals. And in the off season they signed Cuddyer and Mayberry Jr. (not exactly great moves). The minor league org isn't going to provide the kind of offense they lack. And the mid season players they acquired are all basically free agents (Addison Reed is arbitration eligible).

    http://www.si.com/mlb/2015/11/02/new-york-mets-yoenis-cespedes-free-agent?xid=nl_siextra

The New York Mets are unlikely to re-sign star outfielder Yoenis Cespedes when he becomes a free agent this off-season, reports ESPN’s Adam Rubin.

Cespedes was traded from the Detroit Tigers to the Mets just minutes before the 2015 trade deadline in exchange for pitching prospects Michael Fulmer and Luis Cessa. In his 57 games in New York, he hit 17 home runs with 44 RBIs while leading his team to the NL East title and eventually the National League pennant.

The Mets are expected to offer Cespedes to return, but will likely not provide a large enough contract to entice him to stay. Cespedes has publicly said he would like to stay in New York, but will reportedly seek a minimum six-year contract via free agency after spending the last two years with four different teams.

Mets infielder Daniel Murphy will also be a free agent this off-season. Despite being crowned NLCS MVP after homering in a postseason-record seven straight games, he is also not expected to re-sign with the team.

Murphy leaving would make me sad. Sure he can be a bone head, but he's our bone head. I thought it would hurt a little less today but nope.

The Wilpons are ecstatic right now, counting the money they made from 7 playoff games, All profit in their pocket. As far as Cespedes, the biggest thing I was most disappointed with, is he came from Detroit as an extra base hitting machine and at the time, was top 5 in the AL in doubles. He started jacking homers and bought into his own hype and proceeded to attempt to jack everything out of the ballpark. He was never the same player after he was beaned against the Marlins. Lord knows if he was ever fully healthy, or if the Marlins actually knocked the chip off his shoulder. It didn't help that he played golf before every game, which I found to be rather odd.

something somehow was missing from my previous post

harvey's pitch count the first three playoff games: 97, 97, 80

last time he had thrown 100 pitches in a game was September 2 against the Phillies, 2 months ago
