Glass half empty: Defense is totally exposed, secondary collapses, no pressure on opposing QB's trend continues, no sacks, no takeaways, Whoever is behind center fails to manage the offense; we limp through the next two games and look totally beat down with no hope of playoffs in sight. Glass half full: Defense and Jets rebound with whoever starts behind center; manage the next two games at home; and find that one and only magical stat that matters...a way to win, W's... 6-3...playoffs back in sight
It's like some of you didn't watch the game. He came into the game when it was 0-0. Enough of this he came in to a three score game. He provided a couple three and outs to put the defense right back on the field when they were struggling and an interception.
That's not true. Fitz is among the league leaders in INTs and we were winning. We have a good D and at times an excellent running game. The QB is less important when that is the case. I'm not sure why people felt Fitz was having this All-Pro season, he was making mistakes and made another one yesterday when he didn't slide and cost himself a few games probably.
His first game since December I get the feeling that they were trying to ease him in with the playcalling. It wasn't like he had a full week to prepare but considering the circumstances he played a solid game. He needs to clean up those few issues but he did some things he could build on.
For all the "season is lost guys"....The fact is that we would still be 4-3 with that exact Geno performance yesterday each week. The rest of the team needs to step it the fuck up and not blame anything or anyone but themselves for playing like shit Geno went 8-8 in his rookie year with a much worse team so spare me the OMG we won't win 7 games mentality Enough Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Fitz getting knocked out is a convenient scapegoat for the fact that the whole team sucked yesterday. The loss incited a forum whide bitchfest about Geno but the reality is that we would have lost this game with Fitz and probably just as embarrassingly. This team isn't the juggernaut some made it out to be, but such is life in the NFL; your team is never as good or bad as you think they are. The 4-1 start had people thinking Super Bowl, the last 2 has them thinking last place. The truth is we've been a 9/10 win borderline playoff team the whole time, and you'd see it if you kept your eyes on the broader picture instead of riding the emotional roller coaster that comes with the random variance of the NFL week to week
Aside from the three idiotic unfathomable screw ups Geno was far down on the list of people to blame last night. Bottom line is the defense couldn't get a stop, we didn't force a punt until late in the 4th quarter after the Raiders were just running the clock down in garbage time. Geno's issue were with decision making, but coming in cold after an injury and missing a lot of time, he didn't do terrible. 1. Taking those sacks and running OOB when all he had to do was toss it away. He's a moron and this seems to show that he's un-coachable and unwilling to change. 2. Taking that hit, good God what was he thinking, he like has a bruised shoulder and possible issues with his ribs, he hasn't fared well in the past playing injured. 3. Consistently missing wide open receivers by throwing high
A let down this Sunday spells certain disaster, especially with our media and instant gratification fan base. Some fans will actually say they want to lose the rest of the way out with a 4-4 record, pathetic. On the flip, in this fan base, if we are sitting at 6-3 a week from Thursday...you can already build a Lombardi trophy case. I think there is a high likelihood we rebound on Sunday and punish Buffalo Thursday Night....then, playoffs are right back in sight.
I think Numero Uno golden sombrero goes to Todd Bowles....for taking the Jets on a west coast trip, completely unprepared, flat, no emotion, just lifeless. Todd is getting his first taste of what New Yorkers think of losers. Bury Oakland...and do whatever it takes to earn a Win this Sunday. This Sunday is a must win game.
Especially with 10 days to prepare for the first place Texans (hahahah that division). I think even a split in the JAX/BUF 4 day stretch will have us in a good spot. Likely needing 9 to make the playoffs in this conference, 6-4 is a good spot to be. Just don't lose to both Jacksonville and Buffalo, that would be a disaster.
I actually think we have a nice home field advantage. A win against Jacksonville and the place will be rocking Thursday night. Buffalo has some serious issues with players missing, and of course their own quarterback issues. Jets have a great shot to get right back on track. I am placing all the responsibility right where it belongs, Todd Bowles And if Geno is going to be the guy, they better find a way to manage him.
I hate Geno. I hate everything about Geno. And to think we almost traded up to get him! I wanted Jamie Collins in the worst way that year (http://forums.theganggreen.com/search/4077129/?q=Jamie+Collins&o=date&c[user][0]=543) and i get sick to my stomach every single time I see him make another amazing play and am reminded that we chose Geno in that round instead of Collins.
It's possible to fall in the middle of these two categories though. It's annoying to be grouped as a darksider or a homer because you point out the positive or negative things thst you saw in the game on Sunday.
I think the big thing we'll suffer from is the difference in pocket presence between Fitz and Geno. The thought of JJ Watt and his gang going up against 'happy feet' Geno makes me depressed and we know that Rex will bring the house against him. Could be the difference between 8-8 and 10-6
The only group I don't like to associate are the one ready to throw in the towel and get ready for next years draft...Whatever you want to call them, that group is boring to me. There are too many uncertainties in Any Given Sunday football; where players get knocked out and where new stars emerge every week. The Jets are 4-3 coming off two tough AFC losses. Bowles said, "time to reload" when we started the season off rough against Cleveland. It's time to reload again. The Jets desperately need a win this Sunday against another AFC team and then team gets right back on track at 5-3. We can't have another showing like the one displayed yesterday....otherwise you will lose this fan base in a New York minute. This is a very beatable Jacksonville coming into the Meadowlands. I think this is a must win for our season. I do believe the Jets will bounce back on Sunday. And I think there is a good shot we are sitting at 6-3 with Jason Voorhees on Friday the 13th. Total mood swing of the fan base coming...
Rex Ryan is going to make Geno look like a fool. Nobody puts together schemes that are harder to read than Rex. You never know who the Mike is, you never know who the FS is, you never know who is blitzing. It's not a great defensive scheme but it's designed to make young, inexperienced QB's look really bad and that's what it is most likely to do to Geno or Petty.
Brad, Buffalo has more than a few issues of their own at the moment. I am definitely not saying 'we are going to win the next two games, forgetaboutit'. I think we are going to have another battle against a tough AFC opponent in Jaguars. I hope Bowles is able to find the defense that looked great against Colts, Dolphins and Redskins (we are going to need that defense). I like our home field advantage. And I think if we come away with a win on Sunday, we are going to be coming after whoever is behind center for Buffalo; prime time Thursday Night, with a rocking stadium. If Geno is really the guy we are going with...they better find a way to manage him. Geno has proven he can lose games...and he has also proven capable of getting a win.
poor decisions arent just interceptions.... poor decisions are doing stuff like taking a sack and staying in bound to keep the clock running insteading of throwing the ball away and stopping the clock. fitz doesnt do idiotic stuff like that. when you have defense and running game carrying you then you simply can not make those kinds of plays and geno makes them all the time. we have 0 shot of making the playoffs with geno at qb. we likely wouldnt top 5-6 wins
