The talent has more to do with that then the coordinator. Hailey made some serious mistakes. He played way too conservative in the first half. Running up the gut on 3rd and 1 with Somebody Nobody playing center and leaving Geno in shitty 3rd and long situations just like last year. Once we HAD to pass because we fell so far behind Geno made good throws, good decisions, a couple errors but every QB is gonna make a couple errors. When Brady made some bad decisions last week no one thought anything other than man are we playing some nice defense. Fitz has made multiple errors in every game, its not the end all be all. They should have opened up the playbook much much sooner for Geno. That was some bullshit scared play calling.
The Defense didn't show up, and neither did our run game. Which are the 2 biggest reasons for losing this game. Amazing what happens when your starting center is out.
The only reason we had those chances was because of Geno. It didn't matter if it was Fitz in there the Jets where going to lose.
If I told you before the game Fitz would get hurt and Geno comes in and had almost 300 yards in total 2td and 1int you would take that all day? Right?
Exactly. And that pass Marshall dropped at the goal line? That throw alone would've earned us a win last week.
Do you watch the games? Or just look at box scores? I swear the fantasy football generation has ruined football.
You are correct but I'm willing to bet Bowles had something to do with the conservative style once Geno came in
Yes. I watched how Cooper schooled Revis today. I also watched how the Jets forgot how to tackle. I also watched Carr move up and down the field. I also saw Geno take 2 dumb sacks. Need I go on?
I just dont know how much more of Geno some fans need to see to realize we are screwed if he has to see regular time as a starter. IDC what the numbers say. He doesnt give us a good chance to win. And thats all that should matter. Not almost 300 yard games.
After many years on these boards i can say one thing for certain....We will NEVER have an OC that people like. Lol They have ALL sucked. Lol And every new coach is a god..a genius..heaven sent..and the cs is great for his first month or two. Then they turn to clowns. Never fails. Every oc is the worst ever....bumbling fools each and every.......lol smh And we seem to be on a roll with qbs. We draftedt he worst qb to ever put on pads..(who beat the pats on the road to go to the afcc as a rookie).....then he was replaced by an EVEN worse one! And right now we AGAIN have the worst qb/oc tandem ever. Sanchez/shotty WERE the worst....now geno/gailey are even WORSE. Go figure.
Let's face it: That's been the reality. We haven't had a potent offense since the early 2000s. Every OC we've had since the Bill Parcells era ended has had an out-of-date mindset and no clue how to manage an offense. That's been their M.O. and they've even hired coaches for the explicit reason that they called extremely conservative, borderline-timid games. Hell, the reason Tony Sporano was hired in 2012 was not due to his excellence, but due to the fact that he liked to run the ball. Schotty, Sporano, Marty, now Gailey...none of them can get the job done. Hell, look at our head coaching history. ONE, count it ONE coach of the EIGHTEEN we've had in our history has a winning record. We haven't had a competent QB since Brett Favre's year with us, and even then he didn't play like his old self. Sanchez had flashes of potential that were overshadowed by long and overwhelming stretches of incompetence. Geno has shown pretty much nothing that would indicate that he'll be anything other than a journeyman backup for his career. It's the same story every year, and I don't think that we're going to have a shred of optimism until we A) Get a long term answer at QB B) Get an OC who has some testicular fortitude and understanding of the game C) Get a coach who can coach the whole team, and isn't just an offensive or defensive coach. We haven't had all three things since Bill Parcells was coach.
Yet they are all genius out of the gate...They all come with successful backgrounds. Then the mystique takes them over and they become the worst. I remember Pete Carroll. No board then, but im SURE he would have been the worst coach ever at the time. It's because we watch the ENTIRE Jets game. Every mistake is magnified. Every missed tackle, incomplete pass, drop, blown assignment, sack, bad decision, bad play call......etc. is magnified. We curse our players and coaches. Then we turn on Sports Center and see only the best plays, the 30 seconds of absolute high points, from every other team. We hear the names....see the stat line........and we think every other team-players/coaches- has their shit together. Then these names we hear come to the Jets and become horrible. Lol Same for mostly every team.....because all but one falls short and their flaws are magnified. We were a game from the SB...back to back years. We beat the pats in foxboro to advance! Yet that team was coached by the WORST coach in the league right now and QB by the worst QB EVER. Lol For example, a Titans fan who simply watched SC yesterday, or checked the stat lines, would believe that Geno Smith played pretty well. A Dallas fan would love him over cassell right now. And so on.......
Bowles makes rex look like a god. With his shit "it's only one game" garbage..well now it's three games out of seven and two should have been easily won and the third could have been one.
Shit storm is definitely heading Bowles and Co. way if they can't find a way to win on Sunday. Banners and planes seem par for the course. Just win on Sunday, reload, let's go.
I'm sorry but you clearly don't understand the game of football. There is nothing bad about the Bowles/Gailey combo at all.
Impossible our defense is elite?....this fuckin team is just cursed, the defense will never be as great as forecasted, with all the talent
I knew the doom and gloomers were going to come out of the closet. Do you not understand anything about the game of football or the present makeup of this team? Why shouldn't Bowles play it conservatively? Until this week, we had the #1 D and a JAG at QB who has a propensity for throwing interceptions when he gets aggressive. We don't have a topnotch OL. They've played much better than expected this season, but they're far from being one of the top OLs in the NFL. Ivory is banged up. Geno was playing his first game since last year and has been a TO machine in the past. The only SMART thing to do was to be conservative with him, try to rebuild some confidence in him (both his own confidence and his teammates' confidence in him), and try to keep him away from turning the ball over. We don't have a franchise QB that will allows us to be that aggressive and go for the jugular when we have the lead. This is still a flawed team. In case you haven't noticed, our TEs suck, we have little or no pass rush without blitzing (which exposes any weaknesses in the secondary) and we have an old man (Pace) and an out of position DT (Coples) manning the two most important positions in the 3-4 alignment, our NT has little or no pass rushing abilities, we have little or no depth at RB and no game breaker. We have some injuries and little or no depth. It's going to take Mac another off season or two to get us where we need to be, and that's if Geno or Petty develop into a consistent, reliable starter. Bowles has this team playing at a much higher level. He is allowed some rookie mistakes. If you can't understand all of that, then you need to find another team to root for, or better yet a different sport, because you sure don't understand football.
