Well as they say, doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results is the definition of insanity. Watching insanity on the football field is definitely going to drive me nuts, not sure about everybody else but Geno needs a total personality transplant before he's going to be a good NFL QB. He needs Vic Ferrari to emerge out of Latka Gravas in a hurry because Latka is going to lose a lot of games for the Jets this year.
Yet, up until this game we've been in every game. There are a lot of factors involved, new team, new staff, new scheme, injuries, etc... We are still above .500 and even when we don't show up to the game, we still crawl and scratch to make it close. This game was out of hand early, we came back enough to fall apart again in the end. This is the only game that I felt like we really looked terrible. The rest of the year we've looked like a solid team, especially on D. Unfortunately our team looked unmotivated as soon as Fitz got hurt. Things have to be corrected and fixed but to say we have a shit team isn't a true statement as of now. We still have a winning record no matter how you try to spin it.
We're in week 8, if he needs surgery he most definitely will not be back, whoever is the QB it will either be garbage time and we'll see what Geno or Petty can do, or miraculously whoever is at QB is running an effective offense and no way Fitz gets back on the field if we're winning and chasing a WC. He's done IMO.
Are we in first place? Did we lock up the division title? Do you even know how many division titles we have in the last 40 years? Winning would change the culture of this fan base? 40 plus years of losing isn't a big motivator. I want Bowles to succeed, but his coaching was shaky last week. This week it was like they didn't know they had a game. If you think the planning and adjustments were good the last 2 weeks, then you don't watch much football.
Root for another team. I'm almost 42 and haven't seen this team even play in a SB. I've invested enough in this team that I deserve to see them win. I guess you get a trophy for just being a fan.
The fanbase is a product of what the team has produced for nearly 5 decades. You can't change the culture when the team is an utter embarrassment year after year.
I'll take my football IQ over most of you on this board. Your bringing up all these division questions, at what point is that shit relevent to the statement I made? We have won just as many games as we won all year last year. We are ABOVE .500 on the year with a very soft schedule coming up. So if winning changes the culture of a team, ummmm, shouldn't you embrace that and accept we have won more games on the year to this point then lost? I did not care for the play calling in this game today, I felt the adjustments werd made but our players didn't execute. We were without Pryor and Skrine today, that is a big issue. Cro played like ass, Revis was a step behind most of the day, we got zero pressure, massive amount of missed tackles. When your players are shitting the bed like that all game, no adjustments in the world would've changed the outcome of that game. The adjustments they made against NE were great all game, in the fourth quarter, again, execution problems. That's enough for me, I can't take the emotional fans right now, it gets extremely old.
The team isn't an utter embarrassment year after year. Sucked last year after going 8-8, in playoff contention this year despite so many injuries. You guys don't even look around and see how many other teams and fans have it worse than we do watching the New York Jets. Same people that act like the other teams don't exist- it's either OMG RICHARDSON IS SUCH A BEAST or FUCK MARSHALL HOW COULD YOU NOT CATCH THAT. It's never, damn, that guy had some good coverage on Brandon right there. Some of the people here are simply psychotic with their approach. Very sad.
Shittenheimer, Morono, Morningwood and now Failey...4th bad coordinator in a row. Completely predictable
How do you blame today on Gailey? The defense clearly sucked a big one. and is responsible for this shit show today. I think our offense has been better than it's been in years under Gailey, especially with stiffs like Fitz and Geno at QB.
I really can't blame Bowles for the bad defense. To be honest, the playcalling has been what has made the defense as good as it's been. We have a very talented D-line, David Harris, and Revis. However, the rest of the defense is only about average in terms of talent, and they haven't had a true pass rusher since John Abraham. Unless they blitz, just about every QB they face, both good ones and bad, have time to have a picnic, head off to the bathroom for a shit, come back, and still have at least a minute or or two to find an open receiver. And, in the event they do get penetration, neither the linebackers nor the D-line has enough speed to stop even slow QBs. One elite rusher can make the rest of the front seven that much better. On offense, however, there's no urgency whatsoever. It's like they don't even know that you're given 3 timeouts in a game or that the clock stops when you go out of bounds. Of the three losses, some could have possibly been wins with better clock management. I'll give Bowles this season and next. Gailey I'll give this season before I'm calling for his head.
I'm sure you're not a bad dude at all, but you deserve all the hate you have gotten and will get today. Geno is Fucking garbage. This team will not do anything significant until it has a franchise qb in place, because unfortunately that's really all that matters in the NFL.
If Fitz is a real man he will go home, cut off his thumb, put a bandaid on the stump, and get back on the field. It's his NON-throwing hand and he already came back into the game, so he SHOULD be good to go against Jax with a thumb brace.
He can't handle snaps with a fucked up thumb even if it's his non throwing hand. He was in a lot of pain after stepping in for Geno.
You can't line up under center and take snaps with torn ligaments in your thumb, it's impossible, nothing to do with toughness but biology of the human body. If he has torn ligaments in his hand he's going to need surgery.
No my man the D was garbage today. Geno didn't play bad but he did make a few mistakes. As for the hate I really could careless about that.
You're right about that. The D is so much worse without Pryor playing. Geno wasn't horrible, I'll give you that. He did some nice things, but he isn't the answer either. We had multiple 4th quarter chances when we were down 14, and he couldn't even make it a 1 score game.
