It's not about the game. Byz can correct me if I'm wrong in his thinking but the point he's making is that Geno will not be on this team next year and we officially know we need to address quarterback for the future without a doubt. Situational Geno is one of the worst I've seen. He takes so many big hits because he holds onto the ball for an eternity. He took TWO sacks for big losses in the 4th quarter when he was out of the pocket with plenty of space to throw the ball away. TWO FUCKING SACKS!!!! I don't get how he was ever a second round pick. Terrible. The defense was atrocious but this game raised a lot of questions about the coaching staff. Punting on 4th & 7 down two scores with 3 minutes left. Running two plays in a minute thirty with 3:25 on the clock. Bowles had his head up his ass today and it showed big time.
We were within striking distance and the Raiders offense stopped clicking. I think with Fitz we would have had a chance to get back in this game. I never felt that way with Geno. And it wasn't just taking the sacks. It was not having the smarts not to take unnecessary hits. That's Qb 101.
The only real difference between the two is a sick beard and Geno making the same 3rd down errors he's always made. Geno lacks the football IQ to use his tools and Fitz lacks the tools to use his football IQ. It's basically a wash. If the D had played worth a shit this game was winnable.
We definitely missed on Carr if that kid was available. That kid was throwing some bombs today, big league throws
Feel confident at home. This defense can't be that bad... I don't know what was going on with them today? Jet lag?
Geno's first drive the score was 0-0 and he was handed the ball 1st and 10 at the Jets 43 yard line. We got a FG out of that. Geno's second drive the score was 7-3 Raiders. Three and out. Geno's third drive the score was 14-3 Raiders. Three and out. Don't start any legends about how Geno came into a hopeless situation. Geno came in against the 32nd ranked pass defense and was part of the hopeless situation.
When you're down 2 scores with 6 minutes left against the 32nd ranked pass defense that sucks at rushing the passer the game is within reach. The defense forced 3 straight three and outs in the 4th quarter. We were easily in striking distance. The Raiders even gave us a chance running 3 plays burning only 25 seconds with 4 minutes left.
Him saying that Geno played "pretty decently" is just proof of how low the bar has been set at QB since Sanchez rode into town...
I have no idea, but through 3 quarters at least, I had never seen a piss poor Jets defensive performance in a long time.
The backup coming in changed the playcalling on some of the early drives, we got a bit conservative on early downs. We eventually got into a rhythm and moved the ball better but the D gave up 70+ yard TD drives on the first 3 drives. That's really bad. That's Detroit Lions-level bad. We were supposed to be a top D this season but we looked like a laughingstock today. A 2nd year QB looked like a HOFer against us. Again, we went down big in a game with Fitz playing this season too and I didn't see him perform any miracles. He threw 3 INTs and led us to a whopping 17 points even though the D forced about 600 punts from the Eagles in the 2nd half. People see what they want to see. If you hate Geno, your anger is all at him. If you don't, you'll see how bad the D played overall. We are supposed to be a top unit, today's performance was embarrassing and distressing. It was unacceptable. A coaching and player failure that led to our first "laughingstock" game of the season. I hope it's our last but you can't say that anymore now that the team has been blown out in the 1st half in 2 out of the 7 games this season.
This pic isn't great I know but I just re-watched the play Fitz was hurt on and as he gets up he placed his left hand on his knee for support and the thumb completely bends backwards like it's made of rubber.. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
There was never any question before today. The notion that this particular coaching staff was willing to name him the starter in the summer (over Fitz) is a gigantic red flag that maybe people of influence in the front office/coaching staff don't know what they are doing ... and I actually think Bowles has done a good job to-date.
The Jets teams QB'd by Geno have averaged about 18 points a game. He got spotted half the FG on the 1st drive. As long as he's the QB we're badly capped on offense and this defense clearly has some holes in it with Pryor out.
Not sure how you can give up 34 (all basically on defense) and expect to have a shot to win the game Geno or Fitz we weren't winning
How come no anger at Ivory and the OL for a 15 rush, 17 yard game? Personally, I expect better from them too. I just haven't seen that mentioned yet. We know Geno is far from an elite player, and not even a good player. If you were expecting perfection from him, you were delusional. He threw the ball pretty well and the team moved the ball in the 2nd half. But he wasn't going to throw for 300 yards and 4 TDs in a single half, and if you thought that, what planet are you living on? This team needs to play from ahead, which means solid contributions from the running game and the D not getting flattened on the first 7 drives. Wake up.
