"The Glass Half Full – The Raiders have the NFL’s worst pass defense and a pair of average at best corners, the Jets have Brandon Marshall and Eric Decker. Darrelle Revis is the best possible answer for Amari Cooper. The Jets defensive line should be able to consistently get after Derek Carr who struggles with pressure. Latavius Murray won’t be able to get going against the Jets top ranked rushing defense. Chris Ivory seems to be healthier than last week judging from practice reports. The Raiders could be poised for a let down after a “big” divisional win over the Chargers." http://turnonthejets.com/2015/10/new-york-jets-vs-oakland-raiders-the-match-up/ My buddies at turnonthejets always have great articles every week. Just waiting for people to panic as soon as Cooper catches a meaningless 3 yard slant with Revis in zone coverage. "He's done! Lost a step! Cut him!"
Revis got shook out of his shoes by Pierre Garcon for a TD and people weren't saying that. Why would they say it for a 3 yard slant?
Yeah, he did, but it should be out of his hands. Bowles listed him as Doubtful or 25% chance of playing. We will see.
This is a tough game regardless due to the injuries the Jets have. Not sure I like our chances without Mangold.
With all due respect, his tech was right on...he was lined up to stop the out move... sometimes you just get beat.
Yes... he made the wrong read and got shook out of his shoes. Revis doesn't usually get beaten that badly. He's usually inside the other guy's shoulder pads.
I'm pretty pessimistic going into this one with all the injuries on the left coast. I'm hoping like hell we pull out the win but I'm thinking it's going to be a game Fitzpatrick has to put the team on his shoulders and win for us, and I don't like our chances in that scenario too often.
I don't know if anyone brought this up but Gailey was quoted this week saying that Devin Smith was basically while talented having problems learning the offense. He said because of injuries etc he was basically in terms of his development like at a level he would have been right after training camp. If so why did they go to him on a key play long later in the game vs the Patriots. To me it was a bad call. My guess is so far they think he's been a disappointment. Some rookie Wrs immediately fit in and excel.
Mangold and Decker are the injuries i'm a little concerned about. as long as those guys are capable, i think we take this one. the Raiders cannot defend the pass. even if they try to double Marshall, then i'd expect Decker and Kerley to have big days. hell, even Cumberland might finally nab a TD, as the Raiders don't cover TE's. need Mangold calling the protections, as i do worry about the Oak pass rushers. they are also good at stopping the run, but our passing game should keep them honest. put Revis on Cooper, and play our usual run stuffing game. the matchups are in our favor, despite the tough road trip. just my opinion..but we should take this. Jets 23 Oak 16
Yup, have a bad feeling about this game. Banged up on the OL, west coast trip against a team playing well. Hope I'm wrong.
I'll probably say this 10 more times this year but good teams win these games We gotta win. I need to see the next baby steps for the Jets... Playoffs are there for the taking
