Will always wonder if Tejada's range would have helped us on all these ground balls up the middle...

Next year we'll have Herrera at 2nd and he will provide the defense these pitchers deserve.

I don't think so.... as bas as Cespedes has been in October sans one game we're not here without him. The real shit is Clippard. He fucking has blown since September and we probably are still in the WS without him.

We should be saying goodbye to Collins for that. You let Reed start the 8th with their 4,5 and 6 hitters and Familia ready to go with one base runner. Bringing Clippard in and letting him put two on, as if that shouldn't have been expected, is delusional at best.

That's just it and after he walked the 1st guy it should have been a no brainer. I never want to see Clippard throw another pitch in a Mets uniform ever again.

I have not given up yet on our Mets...keep your chin up. They need an all out effort with no stupid mistakes.

Despite his play last night, you got your moneys worth with Murphy.

Cesspooldes I dunno. He was an AL hitter and now hes a sh*tter?. Bad time for your bat to cool..

Pretty clear now that cespedas won't be back........ and I think Murphy is 50/50. Should free up some cash to get bullpen help and a couple major league hitters.
For the most part its the offense that has let the mets down. Way to anemic against a good American league team.

The offense has been putrid, it's extremely hot or cold, hopefully Anderson can find some contact hitters, guys that can keep innings going.

They need to replace murphy at second and tejada at short, I thought Flores would step up and become that contact hitter we were looking for but it was too much for him.

And Duda needs to go also, his lack of plate discipline and adjustments are an abomination, they give him all of left field, instead of closing his hips just enough to go the opposite way he does nothing but pull.

Not over yet but it does not look good.

Duda needs to do a lot of work this offseason on his entire approach to hitting. This pull everything/swing at everything isn't getting it done consistently. He would be a great DH in the AL but we need his power bat. Time for Alderson to move on from drafting pitching every year and start drafting more position players with power potential. Kevin Long has his work cut out for him with Duda but if he could fix Granderson, he should be able to fix Duda.

Murphy is most likely gone. That hot streak in Chicago is over and last night, we saw why he'll never win a Gold Glove. Flores is good bench help but not a starter.

Cespedes is a goner IMO. On the strength of his post season, I don't see how any team can justify paying him huge bucks for a guy that has never seen a ptich he doesn't like. I think once it sunk in that the Mets probably weren't gonna pay him big bucks, his interest died down and now it looks like he's just going thru the motions. He hasn't been right since he got hit on the wrist a month ago.

Not to be a killjoy folks, but this one is over.

At this point I'm expecting Harvey to pitch just well enough to lose and prompt another sanctimonious quote from Bora$ - probably will leave down 2-1 after 7, and then Reed blows up in the eighth this time just to annoy me further since he's basically the last guy left in the pen I trust (well other than Niese/Colon whose arms are about to fall off).

Where you have to start tonight is assuming that Harvey can toss a shut out. This is what the starting staff basically had to do the first half plus of the season. He's capable of doing it but these guys are a good contact team. Any offense for us will be gravy. You can't depend on it but deep down I think it will be there. It's again just a matter of putting together whatever offense you do generate. Like hitting your home runs with guys on base. I know it doesn't work like that but the Mets are not very good at it either. Mets win 5-2. Any game in this series you need five runs to win it.

It's cliche, I know, but it's one game at a time and I like our starter tonight to be able to win that game.

It's over. KC is the better team and will make sure there's no game 7. Overall a good season for the Mets. We should be making the playoffs again next year.

It's not about pitching, the Mets have the pitchers, they don't have the defense or the offense to go along with the pitching staff.

I'm glad they made it to the WS, but it has sunk in with me that the lineup is not consistent enough from top to bottom to help them win the WS.

Teams that have gone up 3-1 in the World Series have gone on to win 85% of the time.

This is brutal.. It could easily be 3-1 us

We'll need at least a 3run lead on them at the end of games. I don't see that happening.

Unless Harvey throws a complete game, we have a problem. I just hope to God that Clippard gets the heave after this series is over. I would say most of our middle innings guys should be gone except for Niese and Colon. With Wheeler coming back next year, having Neise and Colon for long relief should solve our current problem.

We did score a lot of runs in game 3. So it's not that much of a long shot. And this pitcher for the Royals has been through a lot personally the past few days. The key guy in our lineup again is Cespedes. We can win without him but it will be tough. He got a key hit in his last at bat. So if he stops doing his Duda impersonation and swings at strikes he should be ok. He hasn't hit a home run in over 40 ABs.

Problem is Niese is getting paid $9 million next year. You don't pay $9 million (with $10 and $11 million options after that) for a middle reliever. You still need him or Colon to hold the fifth starter spot for Wheeler next year.
